That's a step in the right direction but I still long for the days of learning recipes (e.g. using up books to learn survival skills like making a fire saw or something).
I also daydreamed the other day about a game with real world physics - an actual sim variant of DayZ where there was some kind of free draw mode on a construction panel. For example you could carve a bit of wood in the shape you wanted and real life physics would dictate it behave in a certain way (an arrow or a spear properly formed would fly through the air whereas a wonky arrow would curve down like a shit boomerang) rather than just dropping one icon onto another, or making flint arrowheads etc. That's the real shit there.
WIth the .50 patch you don't need an axe or" firewood" for a fire.
As long as you have matches and a rag, just search the forest floor for kindling, and you can use kindling to make the fireplace kit and as firewood itself.
All this stuff about the wipe is crazy! But I agree getting things back to normal will bring the game back to what it should be.
