  • Didn't stop them beasting us up the hills

  • Ask a frame builder,
    they'll mostly reply:
" yes sir ,can I have your 250£ please?"
I'm toying with the idea as I want to have a 3d brake for emergencies.

  • We have a Mercian tandem and a couple we know have the Dolan and they lent us it for the weekend. For the money I think it would be difficult to find a better spec, more fun off the peg tandem. If we sell our touring tandem that's what I would buy

  • Here is a pic of my Trek T2000 alloy tandem had this for a few years and has been great fun out with my Wife.

  • Here's a newly refurbished Dawes just across the Channel.

  • Our Dawes galaxy will be up for grabs as soon as I get time to take a few pics and decide what to ask for it....

  • What size? Could be keen if it's around the right kinda size...
Unfortunately, that great looking steel Burley has gone :(

  • Thought I'd posted this one before, perhaps not though (edit: was posted in the "tandem, should I?" thread).

Swapped out original levers for some less spongy Shimano ones, have just replaced Sturmey trigger and got us access to all 3 speeds once again now.

Paintwork is v.ratty but I don't have the patience to deal with cotter pins to strip it down for a respray so it will stay ratty.

Please forgive the wonky saddle angles, flat front tyre, ripped curtain, and mucky floor.

  • Hi Steves,
Is this now available? What size?

  • thoughts on this? And ease of converting it to a normal road bike not a TT

  • Buy new handlebars, brake levers, mount existing bar end shifters on down tube bosses. Done. £40, maybe?
    Good price, get it.
Not sure what the extra bosses are for on the captains seat tube though.

  • Looks lovely - go for it!

You could even splash out and get some Veloce shifters for < £80.

  • Bear in mind that because its TT setup, the stoker section of the frame has a short top tube, so he/she will be getting relatively intimite with the captain compared to a tandem built for road or touring.

  • So if it's the lady on the back, you will never be too far away from a hug, or a slap.

  • @Hovis never been slapped by another man from behind?

  • you haven't lived until you've ridden hard with your nose betwixt another's cheeks.

  • I prefer to keep these kind of matters behind closed doors.

  • good stuff. I`m going to get it tonight! the stoker if my g/f so hopefully she wont mind being nice and cosy. Just getting it for a bit of fun really.

  • i`m am really happy you internet strangers have validated what i was probably going to do anyway. Makes me feel much better! haha

  • More than happy to validate, but when it goes horribly wrong you have to shoulder the blame alone :)

  • haha. yes. However with the tandem I dont have to be alone again!

  • You can never go wrong with the acquisition of a tandem.

  • I now own a tandem!

  • :D ace. The next tandem ride's going to be killer at the rate the forum's accumulating them.

  • Hi All,

Add me to the list of recently accumulated! Me and girlfriend recently got this one off ebay for touring. Haven't had a chance to get it out yet - it's currently living at girlfriend's parents' house.

Seems nicely set up for it: front & back racks, hydraulic rim brakes and rear hub brake. It's 531 though, which I've heard that can be very soft riding fully loaded?

Also does anyone have any experience/knowledge of the different level top tube?
