Either fit an old front mech with the limit screws tightened to keep it in one place, or buy a chain keeper which fits where the mech was.

Got hold of a cheap frame and chucked all leftover parts onto it for winter use.

Bought this frame built by Rob Telfer (ca 1992) from Hilary Stone for 130 quid on the weekend. Do you think the price was ok?
T-Rex geo (58cm ctt ST x 55cm ctc TT), so just what I was looking for:

The rear dropouts are beefy enough to be slightly milled out into super-short horizontals, just enough to properly get away with a half-link chain.
Then, this is going to become a tight geo porteur bike, something that is a bit in the style of this 3rensho beauty that has impressed me ever since I saw it first: http://www.cycleexif.com/3rensho-porteur
Here's a quick and dirty mockup:

ebb or magic gear don't mill the drops
-

we'll see - usually less than 5mm horizontal movement are enough to make it work with a halflink.
magic gear isn't really a solution, as any chain will become longer over time

ebb...
Do these exist for 68mm BBs?

Y not geared? 1x something?
-
• #97849
no need for gears, I already own a porteur and its 45x18 does it all for me

They're quite big.

Dropped my chain all the way to Brixton, you may well be right.
