I have some of those cheap shimano mtb spd's. 8 months usage or so and even with the screws tightened right up they unclip if I pull up sharply on them. If I buy a more expensive shimano spd will they hold tighter, or I need to buy those other ones that fixie skidders all seem to use (time atac?)?

Could be worn cleats as opposed to pedals. Generally I find the cleats wear before the pedals but I do rotate between about three bikes.
-

Cleats are the same age, about 8 months of only semi-regular use, surely they shouldn't be worn to the point of unclipping so easily... I have some spares I can try I guess.

Your cleats will wear faster than the pedals due to your walking in them, which you'd still need to do, even if you never slain your bike anywhere, honest guv. How much they wear depends on how much slaining you do and a gahillion* other factors.

Thanks. I did a reccy around Liberty yesterday but the ones I liked were pricey. I'll pop into Charles Tyrwhitt when I'm next over that way.

Hmm, well compared to taking the train on days when I play polo £300 will probably pay for it's self within a year of playing... I guess the next question is, can I get them drilled for 48 spokes! :)

Pop down to polo and check some other SPD pedals out, there's a bunch of us with them tightened right up for comparisons.

So there's a man who lives directly downstairs from us who the girlfriend and I affectionately refer to as 'the Polish rave man'. Very quiet all week but seems to come home at 11am every Sunday loved up and proceed to blast 90's 200bpm high energy trance. Someone recommend me some new agr trance so I can turn my sub up and blast something back at him. He's been at it for nearly 3 hours...

they unclip if I pull up sharply on them
Which cleats? The multi-release ones will unclip if you pronate/supinate, if they are the problem then you can usually fix it just by switching to the single-release cleat.

Just looked them up and mine are multi-release. Thanks Tester, will try some single release ones before I give up on spd's.

• #64237
Yeah, multi are shit.

Anyone able to recommend a 34mm Express card USB3 adaptor for a relatively new,
but,
behind the curve laptop (Lenovo Z460, 64bit W7, i5 M480 2.67GHz 8GB ram),
to allow faster transfer of video files to a USB3 external hard drive?I can find many available from the obvious sources,
but would sooner take advice from someone who knows
or has had experience of those with the best/updateable drivers.(Apologies if not meant to c'n'p from PC thread, but no answer in 2+ hrs).

Aluminium frame and carbon fork needing repainting
Don't need to match. It is for a mountain bike so looking for a robust paint job.
I can find armourtex pricing, anyone got alternative suggestions, including prices? I can't find what Mario Vaz is charging.

http://i.imgur.com/Bp8dNUh.jpg Could this be repaired? It has never been used with a lock ring and is now a bit mashed up. Could it be filed down? I will be changing the gear quite often so perhaps it's not a good idea.

Does anyone have a mini pipe bender I could borrow?

A +1 for single release cleats from me. Also, i've found i can use a lower spring setting with them, and that helps the cleats last longer. (If you set it too low though you can come out by pulling back and up though.)

Happily the cleats in my parts bin are single release and they feel very secure so far. Thanks to all concerned.

I got this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CM381SQ/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item
Works with garmin hrm, sped/cadence sensor and trainerroad - I don't have any power but I'd assume it'll be fine.

anyone know how long a company has to invoice you, before it can be written off? I had three physio sessions at my gym a year ago and despite me asking for an invoice, never received one - then about three months later, I received a shitty email asking me to pay, so I asked for an invoice again, and still didn't receive it. Now they have written to me asking me to pay immediately?!
-
• #64249
They can take you to the small claims court up to 6 years after the alleged breach of contract - presumably their terms of business which you accepted before receiving service specified some sort of payment terms, which you'd be in breach of if you didn't cough up within the specified time after request for payment, typically anywhere from 30-90 days.

at the same time, while you definately have to pay for goods and services received, they should be able to invoice you. How else can you, and they, satisfy the taxman?
You should ring them, get the name of the person you speak to, say you are willing to pay on receipt of an invoice, and follow this up immediately with an email confirming this. Having worked both sides of this exchange, relying only on emails is crap, voice to voice is the way forward.
Likewise, get a receipt immediately you hand over the money.
