  • some film - Canon FD 24mm / 2.8

  • Oh by the way, Berlin people -
I just discovered you can actually go in the "Park Inn" (the big hotel @ Alexanderplatz), and go to the 37th floor for free and have an awesome view (through the window) over the surrounding area (or pay to visit the "panorama bar" in the 40th floor, where you get to take pictures without a window in front of you)!

It's like this (went back the other day with other camera / pol filter, alas it was closed (not just the bar, but also the part that leads you to it, where you pass the window I took this shot at) -

    Cine Still - Nikon 20mm / 3.5

  • Went to Photographers Gallery to see their new exhibits today.

Blown away by both Viviane Sassen's installation (which is awesome) and the Edward Steichen Condé Nast exhibition - two floors of pure old school monochrome class.

    10/10 will go again.

  • Vista 400 - Pentax ESPIO mini

  • Scanning latest roll shot with that Pentax, and am very happy so far; the lens really isn't bad.

In other news (not sure if this has been mentioned on here already) -
there will be a second 35mm Cine Still film available in about two weeks...

  • Vista 400 - Pentax ESPIO mini

  • Greetings from Brussels with one of the most illustrious Art Nouveau buildings here (Pentax LX, Kodak Ektar, scan w/ Konica Minolta).

  • Looks like the LFGSS site discard the image profile - the uploaded image colours appear more saturated than when displayed in colour-managed application

  • Thought it was 500, got excited.

Still keen to try I guess.

  • Yea, definately.
There's something about it.. speaking of the 800 tungsten film, but I also see this in the few pictures of the new 50 ISO daylight version one can find on the web so far -
in the description they speak of a "halation" effect due to missing Remjet backing and an "unrivaled highlight latitude".. I'd have said there's a certain "glow" in the pictures, and that (especially) highlights are "creamy" in a very nice way.

  • All browsers use aRGB as their default colour profile and you can't overode it so make sure you assign it as a working profile to achieve consistent results.

  • Thanks. Are you positive about aRGB being default the colour profile? AFAIK the sRGB is the default for the web and recognized by the colour managed browsers. My file was with a sRGB profile attached yet the colours shifted which made me suspect that the LFGSS site software discared the profile on uploading.

  • Thanks for the tip about CineStill. I went to their web site and left quite impressed.

  • I think he meant sRGB, it's just a typo.
Check the file you have on your computer, the one you uploaded, if it really contains the *s*RGB profile.
The one being displayed on this page, the uploaded one, just contains a "standard" RGB profile.

  • Thanks Tina. Yeah. sRGB. Fat fingers iPhone.

  • Checked again in PS, the attached profile is sRGB IEC61966-2.1; apparently it's not recognised as the colours shown here are more lurid than when the same image is displayed in PS/Preview/Safari/FF/Omniweb.

  • Weird.
Just tried this out; above picture is hosted on tumblr, the one below (exactly the same jpg-file) embedded via the forum.
I'm not on a good screen right now, but they're not the same, are they?

Never noticed this before as I don't use the forum-embedding...

  • Ghibli, can you host your image somewhere, and edit your post to show two versions (embedded via forum-attached) as well?

  • Actually I just saved the forum-embedded one again, and took a look in PS - it's still sRGB, it's still 700x427px - but shrinked to 58,2KB (from 467KB)...

  • Microcosm re-saves all images to optimise them for mobile devices, might drop the colour profile to save space on the way

  • I will try, but hosted pics sometimes show as a mere question mark and no image at all; I don't know why.

And thanks for doing the comparison - the second image is not only more saturated, but with colour shifts as well.

  • @kboy ..the profile's still there, it's just a lot smaller (actually looks pretty decent for less than 60KB)..

  • Hmm, never had a problem like this with tumblr or http://en.directupload.net/

  • tina.kino, thanks for the link to tumblr.

  • Anybody interested in a really used gw690i?

I don't see it getting much use during winter and I need a 'cross frame.

100% working but focus ring seems to go a couple mm past infinity and the lens hood has a crack in it.

Shame to let it go but I can buy another next summer when I'll actually use it.
