  • That Cannondale look so stupid.

  • Is the red one a Raleigh macaframa

  • yeah no? have never been sure about the internal headset and wound-ups interface... although doesn't look too bad there. love the frame mind.

  • it only looks good because you can't see the massive gaps at that distance

what light is this ? anyone ? price? apologies to whoever s this is. I like it and couldn't quote the comment just copied the link.

  • Fibre flare

  • What's the saddle used on the 'zzz' Parallax on page 1823?

  • Re the climb: I don't think he would've got up there much quicker with gears.

He would. Though I'd guess going quickly isn't the main aim.

    Straight chainline

39x22–ish is a straight chain and a better gear and freely available in all good groupsets.

    Power to weight advantage

Road bikes don't weigh any more than track bikes. His looks pretty light though.

    More direct transmission

    ...but less efficient engine.

I regularly blast my mates on geared bikes

    Up mountains? Tell us more.

  • yadda yadda yadda... everything is possible with fixed... yadda yadda... but it's much more fun with gears

    Lies!

...as you have to have an eye for the hills, the nature and all the surrounding things. and downhill with gears/freewheel is 1000% yadda yadda go faster without the stupid skidding look.

Climbing fixed is great fun on a gear that's close enough. Descending mountain passes fixed is a niche passtime to say the least. It's slow, not all that exciting and hurts.

  • I love ascending mountain passes on a fixed drivetrain, it's one of those scenario that you have to make do with what the bike have, and just power through.

Descending, as @miro_o said, is best left for those who does not want to enjoy riding a bicycle.

  • Dont think its actually a Focus, looks like his Brascona thats been rebadged under some sponsorship deal.

  • Promoting fixehs in Alps with dude who clearly uses road bikes for srs bzns...

I do need a new pub biek...

  • Btw the engine is the same.

    Just the gearbox.

Like driving up in 5th B-)

  • Climbing is the best on fixed, just that any remotely appropriate gear for climbing sucks for the way down.

  • Clearly somebody needs to drive a gokart up ventoux n get that shit on vimeo with some chooons.

  • Surely climbing can't be 'the best' on fixed if it is varying gradient by definition?

  • if your cadence to moment curve is pretty wide 65-105rpm'ish you can tolerate some varying gradient - but since gradient has an exponential function on weight, you can't be efficient on both 5% and 15% since you are way out of bounds on the 65-105 cadence.

  • climbing on anything less than 80gi

  • Climbing >>>>>>>>>>

  • Btw the engine is the same.

Ok. But it's running at a relatively inefficient cadence.

Like driving up in 5th B-)

    Thanks for your contribution.

  • Who gives a toss, this is the hhsb thread not the functional thread.

    Someone post some bikes.

  • Have some peas.
