Can you take a pic pls? I am interested in seeing the clearance between guards and caliper .. I'll post the clearance I currently have with a 25mm tyre and 7900 brake.
I am currently using SKS Raceblade long. Although they are the best you can get for a bike that isnt made for 'guards they are long way from perfect coverage. They are good at keeping you dry etc but not so good for keeping the bike clean.

The 7900 like the other new Shimano brakes have wider clearance than the original, meaning the PDW will work.

I haven't got any images, but can get a couple if you really need them. On my front wheel I have PDWs with 25c gatorskins on H+ Son TB14 rims and the brake pads are right at the bottom of the caliper reach, but work fine. The calipers are 6800s, which I think have the same shape as 7900s? It's tight, but I've got them working with 25c and they definitely work with 23c tyres (I have the narrower version of the PDW guards).
