Looks like the battery in my retina macbook pro needs servicing. Anyone know where I can get it done in London without taking it into the Apple Store?

Have you tried the Apple certified shop just off Tottenham Court Rd? Not been there for a while but I assume it is still there.
Also a similar place near the Aldwich. -

Tentative fishing/shopping post. My 2009 20" iMac, whilst functioning absolutely perfectly for day-to-day use, has reached the limit of it's capabilities as a music recording platform. I've put the maximum 4gig of RAM in it and kept the HD completely free of media by using external storage but I'm maxing out the CPU when mixing in Logic 9 using Waves and Softube plugins. Time to upgrade. I'd like to stick with iMac as opposed to MBP I think although willing to consider either. Probably like to stay s/h for now too, just on the look out something a bit more more up to date and beefier. SSD if poss. Anyone know of anything suitable up for grabs?

The main thing stopping me loving Retina displays is that, whilst text has a wonderful new clarity, most online photo content is scaled up to meet the new resolution of the display, and it looks shit.
Until most people get comfy with publishing 12-million-pixel JPEGs on Tumblr & the like, large Retina displays only seem fit for image workflow - not consumption. -

Cheers dude. Currently waiting for ios 8.1 to download. Texting and calling from my computer, plus airdropping photos from phone to mac is going to be handy. However Techradar reviewed the system and did warn that it ties people further into the Apple ecosystem.
I'm still fucked off about the soldered in RAM & HDD. Not just because when signs of age set in you can't upgrade yourself, mainly because I always buy my computers from John Lewis (3 years guarantee and no UK tax avoidance), and they only sell the stock models, so if I want a pimped one, I have to go via Apple #cunts.

Anyone updated to Yosemite and had Bootcamp issues? Want to upgrade but nervous of any initial release bugs...
-
• #6768
Leave it then. Apple stuff is always buggy as shit when it comes out.
-
• #6769
Yeah, thats what I am thinking.. no real need to upgrade either... atm...

Not tried bootcamp, but so far no issues. Airdrop mac to phone is working. Haven't tried phone calls yet, but the sms is working a treat. I read on another forum that due to the voluntary public* beta for the first time, lots of the issues have already been sorted.
*fanyboys doing Apples work for them for free. LOL.

I updated this morning, totally daft as it meant I had to wait half an hour before I could start working... No bugs detected using CS yet... I hate the icons, whoever designed the Finder icon needs to be strung up... iTunes icon, also cack...
WTF Apple?!?

No-one designs Apple's icons. They're organic.
