make your own, 1/3 beeswax, 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 turpentine. warm it all up, stir together, and leave to cool.

Sounds good, and cheaper!

I was given a Caradry SQR Glentress ages ago. Didn't think it'd be much cop but stuck it on my beater and am impressed. Holds much more than it looks like it will.
Carrying waterproof trousers, socks, gloves (because Manchester thats why) tool roll & inner tube, mini-d. The pictured cable might squeeze in also as will a mini pump for sure.
No makers name on the label.

Is there any chance of getting a SQR bag in this gap? Carradice say explicitly bagman doesn't work with sprung saddles. If not, maybe a Bridge Street bag?
min distance between lower rear of saddle and mud guard: 210mm
seatpost distance between seat tube bolt and seat post clamp bolt: 100mmLooking for something with QR to hold a change of clothes for commuting without installing a full rear rack.

Look like there's enough post showing for the SQR bag, a comparison I can find is this one with less seatpost showing than your.

Cheers Ed, that might work. I imagined it rising early which would hit the saddle but that's fairly low.

In that picture, it look like it can be set a little lower barely touching the rear brake.

Here's another low saddle SQR pic: http://www.ivytodd.com/images/sqr/IMG_0192.JPG

You might struggle, I could only just get my Barley on a SQR mount off even with this much space:-
http://www.greenbank.org/bikes/tempo/tempo7.jpg
You need more space than you think as the bracket goes in and drops down into the SQR mount.
I don't have a pic of how close it the SQR mount would get when mounted (maybe there's more than one bracket type), but here's one of t'interweb:-

Where are you @Yemble? I don't use my SQR mount so I'd let you try it (collection/return to/from SW15/SE1 or just pay postage costs).

Ah I see how it works now. Looks pretty tight. Thanks for the test offer, I'm around Clapham so that could work if need be. I'm researching all the options at the moment. Don't want to give up this saddle!

Definitely at least two different types of SQR attachments - some have an angle that veers upward, other is flat.

I have an SQR slim tour http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?page_id=product&under=range&url=sqrslim on this bike. It's fine once it's on but the motion of putting it in to the sqr clip pushes it against the back wheel so I have to squash it flatter to get it on. There's about 13-14cm of seat post showing, 49cm frame. As you can see, the SQR attachment can be pushed up pretty close to the saddle

I have a Pendle and a Barley both by Priscilla and a Camper Longflap without a name that I can find. I use the Camper to tour.

Dear Aggi, get yourself a battery in your smoke detector....or better still, a new sealed unit.
Contact your local fire station, they will do it for free.It would be a nice bike to leave in your will though.

Not to worry, new batteries went in ages ago, that was the day after being woken up in the middle of the night by the low battery chirp.

Good man!
You can probably work out what I do for a living :0) -

I have several weeks of commuting and carrying on my Nelson bag by Debby. I'm vey satisfied with my bag thus far. I will eventually be taking it camping. Next up for me is likely a Camper Longflap or one of the SQR Tour bags.

I want to know what all the audax types actually carry in these bags...
-
• #648
Too much... http://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=45429.0
That said, I packed an insulated vest on an audax into North Wales just in case... temperature was above 20C the entire day...

Cheers, I'll have a read of that at some stage.
Have anyone tried to waterproof your bags with fjällraven G-1000 wax? The texture on the fabric of the super-c bags seems much rougher than the fjällraven fabric. Interested to see if someone had a positive experience with applying g-1000 wax to a super-c bag.
