He has bought a packet of particle masks from screwfix. Perhaps he should wear a hard hat and some steel toe capped boots as well, just to be sure.

Sort of a big deal; allegedly a Russian submarine has entered Swedish territory, got stuck somehow, and is sending out mayday signals back to Kaliningrad. The Swedish navy are currently doing their best to find it.
Google translate works pretty well on the link below:

We get protesters outside on the square all the time, they don't really get on the news unless they disrupt traffic.
Last week we had disaffected kurds, some people pretending to be ISIS with "kidnapped schoolgirls" on leads, and two blokes dressed as giant squirrels.
You have to do quite a lot in parliament square before the news people bother with it. -

Why did ISIS kidnap squirrels?
Why hasn't the mainstream media reported on this?
I smell a conspiracy.

I didn't actually see the squirrels, but one of the coppers in Peer's Lobby suddenly burst out laughing. When I asked what was up, she said that someone had just said over the police net, "I honestly haven't been drinking, but there are two giant squirrels on college green".

They're cooling down really hot things.

The photographs I saw certainly looked like they were made from timber and ply. Retro.

I've been inside a (not in use at the time) cooling tower. Lots of wooden slats, must be something to do with providing a large surface area for speed of cooling.

Just found out a neighbour has had all her benefits taken away... She works part time at a local nursery and takes home less than two hundred quid a month...
Two kids, partner that can't get a job and now they'll have to find the rent every month as well...
Nice one, Dave... :(

Can't she just move to Stoke? I think that's how the Big Society works.

Odd, that really shouldn't happen. sadly a lot of Citizens Advice places have been closed as central government finds it's savings by putting the squeeze on local government that funded these things.
If you've got things right, she's likely to be eligible for something at least - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/benefits-check should help check that she's getting what she's entitled to.
Remember, an awful lot of benefits people are entitled to go unclaimed.
Encouraging news from Florida, where shooting unarmed black children has just been made illegal.
