It would be interesting to do a data scrape from Strava of people's 800m & marathon times to find out what the actual correlation is.
You could also work out the correlation for other distances, a la Mcmillan (where t2 = t1.(d1/d2)^k)
Current received wisdom is that this is based of a constant of 1.06
I thought it was the 800m pace you could hold over 10 reps, so wouldn't it be difficult to get the Strava data? I'm skeptical, as I did my 8 x at sub 2 minutes 53 seconds, but I doubt I could successfully train to do a 2.53 marathon.

I wonder how Yasso sourced the data - I can't find it published anywhere.
So I call meh on it's accuracy as a predictor.
As a workout - I guess 8 x 800 is as good as any interval session for speed work.
