It would be interesting to do a data scrape from Strava of people's 800m & marathon times to find out what the actual correlation is.
You could also work out the correlation for other distances, a la Mcmillan (where
t2 = t1.(d1/d2)^k)Current received wisdom is that this is based of a constant of 1.06
