Cool, well I have made it to Green Mountain and the crappy military base there... I don't think it was raided but it had nothing you wouldn't find in a town - no rifles, no hand guns, no military gear apart from the odd daft hat.
Tweaked my settings according to this guide, looks nice and is running smooth (so far, I think).

Yeah, I think that's it... Had a look on reddit and that came up a lot as the cause.
Also, @chrisbmx116 that guide is really handy. It ran like shit at first because of all the anti aliasing and stuff but now its super smooth, albeit with jagged grass and bushes, which is fine.

Yeah, I really don't understand graphics setting. Well I do, but don't know what's best. I had everything on high at first and it barely ran, then I optimised it with some auto thing and it went all ps1 but smooth. Finding the sweet spot is the challenge I guess. I went with near exactly what they recommended.

Right I have food poisoning, so if anyone has any charcoal tabs/food/water and in walking distance of Zelenogorsk police station I'd appreciate it!
Otherwise I can go to the well in the town and keep drinking water to throw up whilst staying hydrated, apparently throwing up speeds the recovery. Although this method sounds way riskier...

whenever you come across t shirts or bandanas use the action button to rip them into rags, they (currently) work just as well as bandages.

Yep, been keeping an eye out for those too. They seem to get ruined faster than proper bandages though.

I only ever use rags, never bandages, not sure why...
Top tip- Carry loads of spare clothes. You can put things inside the clothes you carry. I have a spare Gorka jacket and trousers and they take up 4 slots each but can hold 6. I think you have to drop the item to get at the items within the items (Yo Dawg) but as long as you dont put stuff you'll need in a hurry in them (rags) it'll be all good.
I think we need to save @Vesalius. He gave me loads of kit for no good reason last night, pretty much stitched himself up, then ate the raw stake I put on the fire. I might be on Sunday or Monday so will hunt out some charcoal tabs and try and get to you!

Tried the same server, immediately exited and all the stuff you're supposed to do.... Nothing. Its a bit of a show-stopping bug if the game randomly erases your character.

Yeah not good, I have never ever had it though. I have logged on and found myself asa "Bambi" but logged out straight away went back to my previous server and my character came back as it should.

I'm happy to give you the compass in exchange for some bandages - always using those things. I used it to get to my current location but could have gone without it. The scale thing is weird, can't get used to it either.
