I can still do a flatish TT as an 'up and under'. Varying my effort to suit my hatred of continous threshold stuff.
What I do outdoors is 2 x 20 on a 7% gradient Climb.
Doing the same on the turbo is kind of inbetween. The flywheel isnt big enough to allow for much soft pedalling. But it allows more than a Climb. Which is why hill training on a turbo isnt the best unless you can crank up the resistance. Mine has a mountain setting for just this.
Sounds like you could do with a few 10, 25 or even 50 mile TTs.
