Do you run with your mtb and unceremoniously chuck at the floor?

• #2428
what's the frame?
-
• #2429
I am but I've been told to avoid active sport :(

Call up, check stock, pay with paypal, the worst that can happen is you'll be delayed by a few weeks if they do you over, best = you get sweet frame

Not all tensioner setups are born equal.
It's a bit early for me to say if mine is working for cx (1st race next week). I've had it work fine on a mtb. I think a lot of people give up because you really want all of the following;
Chainline
Chain-tension
Spring-tension
Chain-wrap
Tall tooth cogs and rings -

^ moar chainwrap would be nice. It looks like a trap for long grass maybe.

IMO it's getting a lot harder to buy a decent ss tensioner, the cheap ones have heaps of play/slop in the pivot and the better ones are overly expensive.
Also, I feel tensioner a are as vulnerable as mechs in terms of damage if you drop the bike etc so you lose a big advantage of ss by using a tensioner.

Only when it's been running its mouth off..

Well if you've found a bombproof way, go for it. I've just seen my fair share of dropped chains because of tensioners and so I wouldn't recommend them to others.
I haven't seen them with wide-narrow chainrings so maybe thats the solution. Although not cheap. No tensioner is also a easier spinning drivetrain and less things for grass and mud to catch onto.

I wont be using one - mainly because I have a pomp all painted up and ready to go. Still think it would be OK though.

Negative chain tensioners (pushing up instead of down) work quite well in my experience.
I've got one on my polo bike, stabilized with some cable ties and I've never dropped a chain. -

I was going to suggest that too, I used to know several mountain bikers who did that. If I wanted something to race on I think the BB 30 + Beer BB is the best option, nice and clean.

Strange that I saw someone racing one on Sunday.
-
• #2442
^^ Impossible. Next you'll be telling me they were using open pros and rim brakes.
-
• #2443
They may well have been.
I know that the forum reps of SSCX on sunday were both running open pros and rim brakes. -

Ready for race season. New cables, pads, chain and chainring. I've rotated my EBB for tension in the upper position for more crank/pedal clearence. The higher seathight ment i had to switch the stem to a -10deg instead of the -17deg that was on before.
I have also bought new cogs so that I now have 17, 19, 20 and 22t to pair with the 42t up front. Should cover pretty much everything.
Oh and I sanded the cranks. Looks nice but come Feb they probably wount. -

Yeah, I did that last week and centred the chainring a bit better so tension was more even, still slipped once.
