A basic trio of rules seem to be working for me...
81kg to 77kg in the last fortnight. Slow and steady downward trend.rule 1 - The workplace. Stay away from cafeteria breakfasts. Stay away from the vending machine. Take my own lunch.
rule 2 - The home. Always go for wholegrains, no white carbs. Veggie during the week. Dodge the ale on weeknights.
rule 3 - Spend as much time on the bike as it humanly possible. Laps, hill reps, out to the lanes, whatever... min 2 hours in the saddle or 30miles between work and home.I'm starting to see my ribs again, but the rubber ring above the belt line needs work.
Should probably start throwing in an hour or circuits soon. -

Any suggestions for healthy stuff to snack on? Mainly for when I'm bored in the office and would normally reach for a bag of crisps or something?
Also, on a separate note, Tabata training, does it work for weight loss? Seems a bit too good to be true.

If you're doing it properly I can't see how it would be very useful - you're fucked afterwards and have only burned a few calories in the brief time you're sprinting. Longer, tempo rides would burn far more calories (but obviously take longer).

I've been hitting the pistachios, they're tasty enough that it's still enjoyable. Plenty protein too. I think nuts can be quite fatty but at least it's not all processed

I'm all about the dried mango for a mid-morning snack. Tesco make teeny tiny portion bags (3 for £2) of them which keeps you from wolfing down too much. Quite a lot of natural sugar but fine if you only have one a day I reckon. Tesco also sell snack portions of salt and peppered mixed nuts which are like CRACK but again only in a wee little box so you can't go crazy and overindulge.
Obviously it would be cheaper to buy in bulk and make the portion packs myself but ain't nobody got time for that...

I do this and I can recommend it. I've got an irredeemable sweet tooth so I use nuts and raisins / cranberries etc with a small amount of chocolate chips stuffed into one of these little pots: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sistema-Yogurt-Storage-Pots-With/dp/B00JUNPEXQ
I used to get Graze boxes delivered to work and these things are kind of like DIY Graze boxes but without the chance of getting duff ones delivered and also without paying 3 quid a pop for a tiny punnet of seeds.

dried mango for a mid-morning snack
Preda Forest-Feast or GTFO.
Srsly - once you've had them, any other dried mango tastes & feels like cardboard.

Eat a proper mango. Because water.

I'm back. Have had a holiday from control where I allowed myself to eat whatever the fuck I wanted, whenever.
Now bored of that. Need fitness, need strength, but most of all as my life seems to require each area to be controlled for one area to be controlled (or if something slips everything slips), I need control.
Will be doing my usual own brand diet. Posting up here with weekly updates, I guess.
#1 priority is reducing breakfasts from a giant bowl of porridge, 2-4 pieces of toast to something sensible.
#2 is fast days when not exercising.
#3 is weights, squats and gym work.
#4 is riding the bike more, running more and finding a goddamn swimming pool thats open at 6am (near me). -

Sounds terrible. Pub?
-
• #8512
Fuck the pub.
All I've got to do for the next 5 months is read textbooks...
Rollers and turbo have re-appeared- so you know its bad.Also- less money on food= more money for bikes.

5kg lost in 3 weeks by walking to and from work and MyFitnessPal for obsessive calorie counting...
However learning portion sizes is the way to go. You'd be surprised how small a portion of breakfast cereal looks when you measure it out...
I need to lose about a third of my present weight... #youfatbastard

I've finished tonights booze and I'm tucking into apple pie and whipped cream.
-
• #8515
Meh... I could do that. Still have 1400 calories to use up today if I wanted to.
But I choose not to.

Sounds like you keep going from one extreme to the other - bound to fail.
Make smaller changes and/or try not to fit so much exercise in combined with fasting.Fuck fasting.

Not really, I've stayed near enough the same weight (68-69kg) for 6 months. I just stopped caring about what I ate about a month ago, which needs to stop as its just not that healthy.
I like control.Fasting is good.
My lowest weight was, in retrospect, too low. I'm not going as extreme as it sounds up there, but just proper, and sensible control, which currently I lack.
Fuck diets.

Wasabi-coated peanuts and some cashews to take the edge off. That should put me into the +1000 calories for today. Fuck diets, indeed.

4 weeks in and just creeping inside the plan. Great variation in daily weights but Wednesday morning is the only one I care about. The red dots are my target (0.5kg a week loss). Just another 12kg (maybe even 18kg) to go then.
Some portion control, less snacking and fuckloads more exercise (adding running and swimming to existing 5-a-side and cycling). Focus is on getting fit again and whilst I do that the weight tends to correct itself but I still need to a keep an eye on it as it's quite easy to overcompensate with required food.

I've managed to stabilise my weight at 76kg.
Whenever I touch 75kg I just have a Paul hot chocolate and some cake with lunch... seems to do the trick.

Much jealous. Such envy.

Don't forget there's always biscuit spread for 'stabilisation assistance'.
Since Christmas (and moreso since I stopped counting calories) I have managed to go from 69kg to 74kg. Drastic action is going to be needed if I want to get in my suit for the xmas party this year. More miles, less cake, or both.
