  • "2015 BCM will be oversubscribed so temporary members automaticaly go to a reserve list - priority will be given to full AUK members"

If I'm not an AUK member but enter early does this mean I would get bumped?

  • Not sure, you could drop the organiser a mail. Sounds like temp members would get places only after all AUK members have been accommodated though?

If you are definitely planning to go for a SR series / maybe go for PBP it would probably be worth joining AUK, it's pretty good value anyway!

  • If I'm not an AUK member but enter early does this mean I would get bumped?

Yes. This ride is epic. You have a beard. Don't forget your shoes.

  • If you want to do it then join AUK online now (£19) and then enter. If you've joined you won't be a temporary member so you won't get bumped.

Not sure if you get your real membership number straight away when joining online, but it's something that can be cleared up after the fact. If you don't get it straight away then I'd still enter (without the £2 temp member levy) and put "have joined AUK - awaiting membership nos - will advise later" on the form.

They'll be plenty of GPX files closer to the time (sometimes the route needs a tweak or two). Google will give you a few from older editions.

  • IIRC I got an email through with my membership number after signing up online.

I vote for Hippy to do PBP in a pair of Nikes.

  • These have been retired.

  • It's pretty cheap. I reckon I might do Anfractious and if I do some qualifiers for PBP it makes sense to join, given the savings. Even if I don't do PBP, the qualifiers would be good fun and probably useful for my racing anyway.

  • Right, just joined for 5 years. Have temporary membership number.

  • You also get several issues of Arivee magazine, a car window sticker and a sheet of mudguard stickers.

There should be lots of other Willesden riders on the AAAnfractuous...unless you want to start moonlighting for ACH of course ;)

  • Not another club!

  • Just getting my BCM entry in the post today. Now need to plan the rest of next year's calendar around it.

  • Another 600k option has just opened for entry.

  • With a fair bit less climbing than BCM.

  • Are there any restrictions on aerobars in the UK events? Or is are rules like that event-specific?

  • Dylan Thomas stamp as well.

  • @hippy No restrictions on machines at all in UK Audaxes.

Some events require mudguards, but that's because the cafe controls being used have previously complained about riders (on the event) with wet/muddy arses messing up their chairs.

I took my aerobars off in 2011 as I wanted to get used to riding without them as I wouldn't have be able to have them on PBP.

  • No online entry? I almost posted earlier today how fluid the AUK event entry was compared to CTT stuff.

  • Yeah, I'm torn though because audax isn't really a goal of mine, I'd just be using them for more interesting TT training really. The PBP rule is the spanner in the works.

  • It's going to sell out (it always does in PBP year and the bed space is limited at Kings YH), not having Paypal entry will probably mean fewer DNS as paper entry (with a chequebook) will weed out some people who are click happy.

I've seen some very stiff bar bag setups on PBP.

  • I think most organisers are offering online entry. Alas there's a few hold outs which is a bit of a shame. Just about every organiser I know finds it a lot easier to deal with entries made online.

  • Why no aerobars in PBP? (Usual obvious epic drafting/lack-of-sleep/night riding reasons?)

  • I seem to remember reading it was to do with ACP's insurance that prohibts using them in mass-start events.

  • Couple of days without sleep, riding in a bunch - I can see why they'd ban them.
