• Pics?

    :-)

  • You don't need pictures or a spec. Just pay the man.

  • The spec for bike is as above. I'll post some pics when i get chance. I don't think it needs any justification or explanation.

  • Good luck with the sale with that attitude.

  • Shortest LFGSS ad ever. Don't even need first post

  • that attitude

    Colnago owners...

  • I'm after a C40, I looked at this ad... and then left.

  • Interested .......need pics and spec.

Images are on link above; Marks/damage are shown in photos, which are Scratch on Top Tube, slight scuffing on lower right chain stay and mark on Colnago head tube sticker. One more thing the catch on the rear mech as somehow come off so when you take the rear wheel out the rear mech re coils. Other than above no damage. Never dropped or crashed. Very low mileage original as indicated by the chain rings. Selling due to trying to raise funds for house renovation. It is very difficult to find a C40 HP in this condition. I’m sure if your reading this you know about these bikes so I need not say more. In terms of spec all record carbon 10 speed. As you would expect for age and condtion its all very tight. I think it’s a 2003 or 4 group. ITM bars it’s got a long stem but I have shorter one which I will include in sale. It’s got a Brooks saddle on it which might not to be everyone’s taste and arguably does not match the rest of the spec. Rims are clincher traditional anodized Mavic wheels.

    "Almost NOS"
    bargain...

  • Point taken might be slightly overstating saying NOS however this bike is incredible condition and would challenge you to find another in this condtion and price. I have purposefully pointed out the Bikes flaws in an attempt to be honest. Many C40s I have seen being sold here and elsewhere are very Tired and often resprayed. Photos were taken with high-resolution camera.

  • I bought a similar condition C40 HP with full dura ace earlier this year (without the snapped off gear stop) for £850 and did not consider it a particular bargain. You're probably better off punting this on eBay, where someone may (or may not) be more forgiving of its flaws. After fees and PayPal (14.7% all told ), you'd be looking at the same kind of money.

    all of this

  • What is a gear stop? I've just goggled it and I can find anything bike related. If you mean gear hanger there is nothing wrong with it and never as been its straight and never been damaged. There is a little stop on the rear mech or derailleur (Thats what changes the gears) thats broke. So the derailleur cage (Thats that holds the jockey wheels in place) revolves around anti clock wise 360 degrees when you take the wheel out. Its a bit of a nuisance. I have based my price on my extensive knowledge of C40's my knowledge of the market and the bikes condition. I could have easily dressed this up and hidden the very slight marks on the frame from storage but I chose not to so as not to waste anyones time.

  • "I have based my price on my extensive knowledge of C40's my knowledge of the market and the bikes condition"

do you have any provenance regarding all your knowledge?
    here's mine

  • C40's and C50's can suffer rot by the stay/drop out joins as the was no exit holes in the stays for excess water to run out
this was one of the first carbon Colnago's , arguably a pre cursor to the first generation C40, pre the crimped tubes,

really quite egotistical to claim "extensive knowledge"

  • i m no wise man, just a fool who's willing to learn
" A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool."

  • Err some nice bike but I can't in your photos find a Colnago C40 HP. There are some images of two bikes with the heading Colnago C40 Hp but they are actually second generation C40 with B Stays. As nice bikes as they are (I have owned two) the C40 HP as diamond chainstays and was the last generation C40 and are pretty hard to come by. With regards to your comments about this being one of the 'first Colnagos' i'm not sure what you mean this is a third generation C40 made around 2004. As for exit holes water WTF? I rest my case

  • "Very common problem with all older Colnago frames (C40, some C50 and CT frames). Colnago just replaced the entire rear carbon section, but you can also have just the rear dropouts replaced by a carbon repair expert."

  • as in 'told you/put you in your place' :ironic rolleyes

..colloquial sarcasm, you really have been away with the cloggies far too long
