  • Does anyone got a link to a simple diagram which explains how to measure a frame? I need to send it to someone on gumtree.

  • I'm very tall and fairly slim with long arms, and I'm after some smart shirts for work that don't resemble tents in the larger sizes I need to buy for the length.

Are there any high street shops that cater for such proportions?

  • I'm fairly tall and skinny, with long arms, and found Next's 'slim fitted' shirts to fit really nicely; they're certainly no baggier than a dress shirt should be imo.

  • I'm pretty slim with long arms I find Zara's slim shirts fit me well.

  • Yep, got the Cyclus one too after years of frustration with the Shimano version. Still a niggle to work with - as tester says, get the hex replacements.

  • A friend of mine who is 6'7" used to go to High & Mighty and always pronounced himself happy with what he got there.

  • I think that Labour bet the house on the Tories not only failing to deal with the economy, but making it worse. Now that we seem to be actually out of recession (not sure if it had anything to do with Dave though) I'm not sure they have a plan B.
It's not easy to find someone with less charisma than Dave, but in Milliband they have found someone. Perhaps Ed Balls is the leader in waiting.
This talk of English 'devolution' or whatever they are going to call it has got to be a serious threat to Labour, given their demographic.
I reckon the lib dems are utterly finished. Ukip probably aren't. Too early to call on the SNP, but they've had their one big idea come to fruition, it failed, and now they need a new reason for voters to choose them.
It's all going to be interesting next year, that's for sure.

Thanks for the suggestions, I shall check these places out.

@Oliver Schick even though I'm nearly 6'5 I've never set foot in one of those 'specialist' retailers, I think partly in denial of the fact that I'm that different. Maybe it's time to grow up and have a look...

  • Charles Tyrwhitt have a few stores in London. I buy their extra slim fit shirts, which are more of a regular fit on me (their regular fit is aimed firmly at the middle aged spread crowd). The big benefit for me is they do three different arm lengths for each cut and neck size, so you can "tailor" it a bit. I buy everything online, but I'd try a few in store first.

The advantage of these pseudo-tailor type stores (Tyrwitt, TM Lewin and the like) is that they tend to keep the same cut as standard for several years, so once you've got a good fit you can just buy online and get a consistent result.

  • I had this problem recently, needed a shirt in a pinch. Ended up at TM Lewin's Jermyn St store where they stock 35" arm slim fit shirts. I'm 6'6" with a 15.5" neck and they sorted me out. Any longer in the arm and you need to order online.

Also would recommend TM Lewin as they let me bring my bike into the shop and wander around picking a shirt whilst in lycra.

  • Hmmm there are Charles Tyrwhitt and TM Lewin shops near me so I'll check them out too, I like the sound of extra long sleeves. Very useful info thanks everyone!

  • I called around loads of places the day before I was going to a wedding and needed a white shirt (I know, I'm amazing).

It was only the Jermyn St stores of each of those companies that had the 35" sleeves. Everywhere else stopped at 32 or 33". Just so you know.

  • Anyone know the name of the bookshop on the waterloo end corner of the cut is or just what time it closes?

  • Charles Tyrwhitt and TM Lewin

Go Tyrwhitt. The quality of Lewin shirts is risible.

  • Hmmmmm not so sure, even their super slim fit are baggy on me. Lewin shirts quality may not be great but they have the John Francomb range which has a fully fitted shirt more expensive but good quality shirt.

  • Lewin do long arms. Most others don't.

  • So I've been lurking around the forum for a couple of years, but have only just moved to London. I'm living around Wembley kinda area, is there a regular pub meet or any way to maybe meet some of you guys and enjoy a few beverages?

  • I need a bolt for a nitto seatpost, as in years of storage one has gone walkies.
    Looks like this.
    Where can I find another?

  • @hamrack yeah compass drinks, st pauls sub-forum worth a look too

  • English thread bottom bracket

If you have English (ISO or B.S.A.) thread b/b the outer cup diameter will be 34.6-34.9mm and inner diameter will be 33.6-33.9mm. Shell width will be 68mm or 73mm. It will also have a left hand thread on the drive side.

If you have Italian thread b/b the outer cup diameter will be 35.6-35.9mm and the inner diameter will be 34.6-34.9mm. She'l width will be 70mm. It will also have right hand thread on both sides.

left wondering what cranksets work with an Eng thread BB..

  • err, might have found the answer actually,

  • I think I've got a couple of spares knocking about that'll fit. Won't be shiny like that one, but I could bring it to SE beers.
