funnily enough i bought a pair of north face trousers from that summit series yesterday
snuggly and warm they were / are

  • ah, the jacket is pretty good too. waterproof, breathable, indestructible... cut a bit large.. i'm 5'10", 160, and the small fits well...

a bit heavy, and monstrously overpriced at 400, but 230 is a fair deal....

  • I've been using a Carhartt jacket and its shit.
The vents seem to hardly work at all. - It's also far to heavy so if I wear it I turn up sweating like a pig.

Need something with a hood and preferably the arse flap things..
    Any recommendatiions?

i have one of these. very waterproof and pretty breathable for the type of jacket

  • TK Maxx have loads of Gore Tex Berghaus jackets just in which look suitable for on and off the bike. Reduced to £100-150 in an orangey-yellow colour and peaked hood, ideal for the bike.

Didn't get the model name, but the ones that look similar on the Berghaus site are priced £250-300, so it's quite a good saving.

  • eVent, any jacket with it

Is eVent still the favourite on here?

  • I just got home from cycling 10 miles in the pudding rain. My feet and trousers were absolutely soaked, to the extent that the latter weigh about a kilogram.

My top half was still bone dry, apart from a little steam. Last year while working at a bike shop I won a Gore Fusion 2.0 jacket and it's a fantastic bit of kit. Tonight I was wearing a merino baselayer, a normal shirt and that, and I didn't overheat at a steady pace, and the waterproofing is excellent. I don't think there is a better cycling jacket (though I have heard good things about the Waffa hardshell). I know I sound like a salesman - and that's how I got the jacket in the first place - but it really is cracking.
