Birmingham Bike Polo Chat & BS Thread

It would be great if teams could start organising their first round games for the league.

The league starts a week on Sunday and first round games need to be played before October 26th.

Once we start to get dates confirmed I can add them to the google doc.

Also if people could make a logo for their teams that'd be ace then they can go on the blog and stuff.

OK great. The only thing is someone should probably speak to Alice about this, I did briefly on Sunday but she's not on the forum so she might not know plans. Also she's potterying on Wednesdays now.

Mya spoke to her and she said she's in. If she can't make certain days we can arrange the games for another day, or subs are around. Irial, Asim, Rosie, Mike.

I'm working on Sunday so can't play at all. Also working Wednesday but will come later if there's a league game to play.

Chris Swann, Jo and Kat all played noticeably well last night. Snacks were awesome in the final game; proper team play.

Hello sorry to break in during the league game discussions. Need a little help from the Bike Polo intelligentsia. Thinking about ordering a Marino bike polo frame but need some help getting sizing right. Can anyone help?

Harry is away until Oct 5th. I won't be playing on Wednesday but probably will on Sunday, so we could potentially get a game in although it would be better if we can wait for Harry.

Maybe we need some kind of 'rule' to make games happen (even if there's a sub)? Nobody wants to be the person to def off their teammate which might make it hard to make the call to do a game. Something like 'there must be at least one league game if 2/3rds of your team is present'?

just get Fin to build one?

I'm away this weekend. I think it is looking likely that our team will struggle to get all of our games in so might need someone to sub at some point, so far I think the only day we'll all be around is the day after Joe's party (so that's iffy!) and the last Sunday before the deadline.

Remember they can also be arranged for none polo days.

I'm around on Wednesday, but Alice isn't, I'm not around on Sunday. LJ's pretty busy in general - I think we're going to struggle to get any games in in the near future.

My suggestion:
5 player squads, 25 min games, rolling subs.

2 league games played tonight, thanks to the refs for their work.

Note: I've done a subs goal tally at the bottom so that a 'true' top goalscorer is revealed at the end.

Also, to confirm a couple of rules - If the ball passes back through goal it can not be shot by the attacking team until they have made one pass. If the defending team touches the ball first then it is in play as normal and the attacking team is allowed to shoot without passing.

If a player is seen riding through goal and gaining an advantage by doing so, then a penalty will be called, this includes saving a shot by putting your mallet back through goal.

If anyone wants to play in Canterbury this Saturday with woody and Jimmy, nesbit can't make it and his giving up his place.

Hi all, been out of the loop for a bit with cycle touring then moving to Sheffield and didn't get a chance to play my last Birmingham game. My bike's still in Bham so hopefully be around in the next few weeks to pick it up and play some games. See you soon!

If you've not already ordered something I've got a spare mallet head (from Matt) that you can have.

League table updated

It's going to be tough to get the last two games in because Chris is away. Lj and Alice need to try and organise a sub for those games.

If the games don't get played, but all of the spotted dogs or high berries were at a session ready to play then The Old Moes will lose the fixture 5-0. If neither team is around to play it'll be a 0-0 draw. This is just the first round (ends Oct 26th) so still loads to play for!!
