Would so rep, glad someone has taken my place!
On a different note, I don't think the polished mudguards would suit the plug/genesis personally
Aha sorry, I just realised that comment was probably too far detached from the post i was responding too, hope it makes sense!

@thross Exactly the reason I got a rear lezyne femto for back up! Love how bright and intense the Micro's are especially the daylight flash mode. Just a shame they're so poor on battery life at full brightness!
Found a new frame to build up as a 'general riding duties' bike. Hopefully it goes cheapish..

I saw you had posted here and thought you're trispoke had arrived :(
But yeah, the Macro is meant to be just over double the battery of the Micro, so I've got high hopes for charging every couple of weeks on the commute.

So, anyone who knows me will appreciate how momentous this is for me. Today, I finally found some new cycling shoes that fit well enough to warrant replacing my Shimanos.
Out with the old, loved, drafty and structurally compromised...
...and in with the new.
If the Mavics are even half the shoe those Shimanos proved to be, they'll be a fine purchase.
Five years on my feet - worn almost every single one of those 1,825 days, and to be honest, still with life in them. It's been a hell of a ride. Goodbye old friends, for now at least...
-
• #1206
They're nice too!!
I'm sure you didn't buy them in anticipation of the Mavic Open Pros at all?? ;-)
-
• #1207
Well, you know, when you've got a Mavic headset, Mavic cranks, and will be getting Mavic rims in the spring, it kind of made sense!
-
• #1209
Ah gutted. Still, good form on the sellers part - he could quite easily have taken the cash and let you paint the road with your face at some point when it undoubtedly failed in the future!

Tout Mavic est passé

• #1211
Garmin...yes/no/which one?
-
• #1213
Hmmm, I need to have a look at one to decide whether it's worth it or not
-
• #1214
No. Not worth it unless you're actually training/serious. The take the fun out of getting lost, and you'll become obsessed with stats rather than enjoying riding.
-
• #1215
That's the thing, I do want to get more into training harder and I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to stats - they tend to make me work harder
for example I wanted to get down to a certain weight and body fat % and did it as I was driven by the numbers
Plus surely everyone needs to know just how fast they can go, right?

• #1216
If it's a commute or something you could just use the stop watch or, dare I say it, strava on a smartphone(presuming you have one). You could do the same route each time and in theory you'd get faster the longer you do it, traffic etc permitting!
-
• #1217
I do have Strava on my iphone, perhaps I should invest in a decent mount instead...but the Garmin battery life is far better and is designed for the job, can get wet etc

• #1218
I guess it's each to their own. When I used to have a computer when I first started riding I'd just stare at my stem trying to get as close to 19mph as I could whenever I could - I lost loads of weight, and got pretty quick (with gears) but didn't enjoy just going out and riding as much as I do now.

stare at my stem
Euph!?
I'm gonna have a think about it, I have really spent enough on bike stuff lately but just want to get everything sorted!

Euph!?
I lol'd

• #1221
Glad it wasn't just me!

@hudsoncjnr If carbon frames broke under heavy loads, rapha would never have been founded!
On garmins, I love my watch for running, but I use my phone on the bike, in my pocket to look at afterwards. I guess I'm echoing Alex, but some of the best runs and rides I've ever had were the product of getting lost. Conversely, getting lost and riding further will make you fitter than sticking to a planned route at a prescribed speed :p

• #1223
Also...staring at your crotch my ght make you aero, but you might crash into even the pinkest of minis...
Oh did you actually mean your stem?
-
• #1224
but you might crash into even the pinkest of minis...
I see what you did there

I could say something witty... but it's funny cos it's true :p
I'll show you the only reason why I chose this set on Sunday!!
