^^ Second that!
Got a consultation booked in with Thomas Bates yesterday! Absolutely love his crisp style and the animals especially. Planning to get a couple of magpies flying out of a tangle of rope on my forearm.

Got one calf done, didn't thinl it was that bad. Bit tickly the closer it got to the knee but not any more painful than anywhere else.
Good to hear thigh is alright, thinking of getting that done next.

Did you go via his personal account or via King of Hearts?
-
• #9305
Thank god. This is the only place I've been tattooed and I was worried that I was just a pussy.

saw an advert for the london tattoo conventions which upon seeing I'd thought of going to, and I enjoy looking at a half naked tattooed lady as much as the next heterosexual male, but I would have thought the advert for the 10th anniversary convention would have focused more on the 400 artists, rather than the music being played or the sexy tattooed ladies on display...

I feel, if you looked hard, you could find more progressive places than tattoo conventions. Or tattoo shops.

Good stuff - great artist, nice guy, and the shop is welcoming (I assume its the KOH in New X?) and its staff are completely unpretentious and friendly, a refreshing change from the previous place I was in before that.

Im in Norwich so ill be getting tattooed at Indigo, where he spends half his time since hes a Norwich lad. Staff weren't so great to be honest haha.. Just that typical pissed off at you kind of feeling.

^ I don't understand that with some shops. Awful customer service skills. What is the reasoning behind it, treat em mean and keep them keen?
-
• #9323
I always assumed it was because they didn't get into the job for customer service skills. Some place are great, I popped in to The Black Garden to get a tshirt and they were very friendly, said hi as soon as I was in the door etc. Whereas Frith Street basically ignored me and made my feel uncomfortable. I've heard a few people express a dislike for The Circle saying it's too hipster but I have always found them to be friendly and helpful in there.

Maybe your sweet fixie got you hipster cred?

Yeah but they are serving customers, right? And if you're a happy customer, you're more likely to come back. I'm not expecting the admin at the desk to be my new BFF, but a little courtesy and chat goes a long way. The King of Hearts shop in New Cross was a real breath of fresh air compared to other London shops I'd been in (Shangri-La deserves a mention - jesus, never made to feel more uncomfortable in my life), just genuine people, no air of pretence or detached cool, instead they were friendly and open and inquisitive. Makes for an all round better experience. It isn't rocket science, it only means you have to be a bit friendly to people you dont know, who are about to pay your wages.
Yeh, he's definitely my favourite, so clean. That's the style I like (planning on a flower like that for my forearm) but he does stand out.
Even when there's no colour...
