    2014: One and Two will take mudguard, but not Three or Womens

    2015: One, Two, Three, Four, SS and Womens all have fork blade eyelets but aren't drilled

  • 2015 is definitely aimed at British commuter.

    Charlie The Bikemonger is the Swobo rep for Europe now, says these'll be about £1k.

    Less than a Surly or Salsa, but that's still feels like poor value when it's £1k for an On-One Fatty.

    Oh right. Yeah I'm totally with you. For me forward facing, campag -long, chromed dropouts are the fixed gear holy grail if you ever want to run 'guards.

    Over in the hhsb thread 'conversion' is still a dirty word though... as if they're not just a bunch of diy hybrids #sickburn

    I see your Campag dropouts, and raise you Paragon Machineworks:

    (Just don't look at the un-trimmed mudguard stays).

  • Filth! But twice as many things to loosen/tighten and don't work any better than forward facing with a built in adjuster? Carrying an allen key rather than a spanner is good though. And maybe you can run the 'guard closer to the front of the wheel.

    It's my perfect winter trainer/commuter - because it's me there is a Powertap in the rear wheel.

    I'm building V2 right now, which changes the clearances so that running 30c tyres with guards is fine, a disc brake on the front, and low-rider pannier racks on the forks as commuting with a pannier rather than a rucksack is teh awesomez.

  • How come front rather than rear rack? For commuting a lot of people use a single pannier, would that work steering wise on the front?

  • Really do think the Talbot Path Racer is very close to the perfect everyday bike. I'd probably like a CX fork to run hydraulic discs and have clearance for up to 32c though. So basically a custom made drop bar hybrid. No powertap but deffo a dynamo. Is the power cabling all internal too?

  • The cable for the dynamo in the front wheel runs inside the top tube, the Powertap is wireless and requires no other sensors.

    The new fork is going to be a modified CX fork, having given it some serious consideration it just makes the most sense.

    I've been commuting on my Time Machine which has a rack on the back, and for weaving in and out of traffic I thought it would be nicer to have the wide part of the bike at the front.

    I also really like the totally uncluttered rear end of the Path Racer, and didn't want to put a rack on it:

  • This is merely the temporary pre-enlightenment state, afterwhich they buy and use a carradice.

  • Surely a skinsuit that looks like a suit removes the need to take a change of clothes to work, thus no need for panniers! all the clean lines...

    Ironically enough, I've found it's a little harder navigating through traffic with front panniers, take some time to get used to.

    The ability to get out of the saddle to sprint without making the whole bike feel noodly is great though.
