If you're beaten by someone pedaling slower than you then you're still not pedaling fast enough. Pedal faster.

I try to keep my tactics a secret, I'm going to have to kill anyone that read my post...

Cross post, but would anyone be up for a trip into the peaks in early October?
Bit of a two day training camp, staying at a hostel Friday, Saturday night?
Say weekend of the 11th October? Obviously open to mtbers as well... -
• #55
Give me a shout if it happens, being Manc way I can generally ride out to the peak anyway.
-
• #56
I think I'm heading out there Saturday, not 100% though.

+Dammit?I'll stick my name on the list of interests. Not done any racing before, and tbh I struggle for time, but looking to get LVV accredited over the winter, Herne Hill pre season, get a little Dolan to race on over Xmas and give it a go.

Good shout, once you have done the Junior development stuff at the track, you can move onto the road.
-

I don't think I'll move on to road racing. I enjoy going on long casual/social rides, geared or fixed, but I think I'd prefer to keep that side of cycling separate and keep racing to fixed tracks and crits. Otherwise I'll just turn everything bike related into "Training". I mentally need the separation otherwise I'll just lose mojo.
Atleast, that's how I feel now... -

It was just a bit of trackie ribbing, rather than being serious advice.
Though i agree it can become problematic, seperating the fun from the training. I'm reluctant to add more structure to mine currently for fear it will just make everything dull.

Has anyone done intervals like this on rollers instead of a turbo trainer? It's all I have but I am still a bit shaky on them. Sprinting flat out sounds like it could end in tears.

^ I have and have had the same issue. I've used the BC warn up: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/insightzone/physical_preparation/planning_for_performance/article/izn20130214-Warm-Up-0
The flat out bits tended to be as fast as I could without coming off and I was doing it fixed as well which meant the speed up was a bit more gradual than with gears. -

Tester does. I'v never understood how you can get enough resistance to do proper sprint intervals on rollers.
-
• #65
Ridiculously high GI adds a fair amount of resistance. Even on something as spinny as rollers (speaking from experience of trying to push 400 GI)

Paul Evans here, do we know each other? I'll definitely be riding the Nocturne Crit next year and any other track crits. I have it on good authority that Red Hook is coming to London next year, it would be great to get a forum team together for that.
-
• #68
No, don't think we have met. I spotted your name on the results sheet for the Nocturne but didn't know your forum name. RHC London would be awesome.
There is a list for anyone interested in some LFGSS L2/L3 track skills sessions at LVV.

+Dammit? So ended up with a Bob Jackson instead of a Dolan. L3 Stratford but not planning to carry on there until much later this year.
Race accredited for Herne Hill. Still slow and no endurance.
Will get BC silver race next month. -

Can I still be counted, given I no longer live in London.....or England for that matter?
That said, I can ride a track bike around in circles...
Use the right gear and it may not be about pedalling faster!
