went to Stoneleigh Terrace a few years ago, don't remember which number but assuming it's the same guy it was really lovely - a very proud resident showing you his home.
Gingerbread House does look great.
I find Open House rather overwhelming so usually don't do much unless I'm volunteering somewhere, prefer to cycle round looking out for green banners and no queue but it's a bit of a hit and miss method. Saw a talk by Tim Lucas on that Kew House last year, really interesting build from the engineer/owner's point of view.
