  • Giant TCX SLR I think.

  • I run 28s on my Kinesis so at least that plus guards. Maybe 32s? Sick of Gooch and spine being punished by shit roads.

  • That looks like a good option and they do frames.

  • Is it wrong that I really, really, really want the Pinnacle Arkose Two?

    It's a Pinnacle!

  • Nope I want it as well. Needs narrow wide chainring though.

  • Have you seen the new GT Grade?

  • Just as well On-One make them for £24.99!

My Ride2Work expires next month, which means it's time for a new bike!

Only problem being is that a CAADX 105 Disc is only £150 more - which is the finest aluminium frame in the world. I realise they're quite different bikes, but the CAADX is just a very good deal and the Pinnacle seems like a hard sell in comparison.

  • Looks. So. Wrong.

  • @JB CAAD 10 Disc surely ?

I must confess I had a test ride on Arkose 2 around regents park .. loved it.

  • No point in getting CAAD10 if you got a Genesis Valore.

  • @amey not sure if you're serious or just really stupid. Why would I get a CAAD10?

I want the mentioned bikes because they're cross orientated and have mudguard and rack mounts. Duh.

  • Get a caadx then.

  • Get a Singular Peregrine.
Or the new Planet X thingymajig.
    Or a CAADX.

  • Needs to be from Evans, hence CAADX or the Pinnacle, though I'll probably wait for Genesis's 2015 stuff to be released at Evans and go have a look at that first. Some of it looks quite good.

If only Evans were a Surly stockist...

  • Don't overthink it JB. Its just a utility bike.

  • Will be a commuter and also a winter training bike - so it requires quite a bit of thought.

  • Pinnacle Arkose Two

A mtb friend has one as his 'road bike'. I love the simplicity. His is black and actually looks pretty tidy.

You will spin out on the road a fair bit though, unless you fit a bigger chainring.

  • Not really. Anything with mudguards and tyre clearance and a groupset that works. Any cross bike with mudguard mounts will do, so just pick the one you like the best.

  • @miro_o Don't suppose you've ridden it? I'll try to test ride one when they come into stores. I am also a sucker for that colour. The new 11-36 ratio is very good too and the brakes...

I think it has won me over - on paper anyway.

@dan yeah I will try both later in the month.

  • I meant Synapse Disc soz

  • Doesn't cost a grand or less and is the ugliest thing ever.

  • I haven't because the muppet uses mtb pedals ;-)

You could stick a 44t wide-thin-thick-whatev's chainring on there and do away with the guide.

  • Wont be under grand yes but not bad looking ..

  • it's £1600

  • wait what happened to 44 ?
