it stretches enough @peter_v, the cage length is just to take up chain slack and assuming i am in the right gears it's not been a problem. One year i however did accidentally shift into 54/34 which resulted a bad situation. :)
@Rox it's not really doable to get a flight the same evening from rome, from pisa is no problem - but if sods law dictates if you need to be somewhere at a particular time and you are on a vintage bicycle the gods of the strada bianchi will make it hard for you and your frame will probably snap in two or your brakes will catch on fire (both of which i've seen)
