I'd never use pedal power meters anyway. Shit idea. But others might like them.

Excitedly got my first G3 Powertap out of the box today.
Then realised I needed rim tape.
And tyre.
And cassette.
Le sigh.

2,500 miles on mine, one battery change, hasn't missed a beat. Do like.

You must appreciate the weight too. So fucking light. Ok I was comparing an 808 with wheel covers to a G3 on HPlusSon but still. Much lighter wheel than any of my others. Almost a shame I'm using it for commuter/training wheel.

In all honesty I've no idea of the weight- it's on my commuter.
It's an efficient little package in comparison to the SLC+ that I've got on the Serotta.

Stopped at Edenbridge, went to get a coffee, clearly walked out of range so the Powertap and the Fenix II lost each other and then never re-connected when I got back on the bike.
Fucksticks.
I don't suppose anyone else has experienced this and knows a way round it?

I've had a similar thing where a Power2max had gone to sleep and was then ignored by the Edge 800. Solution was to turn the Edge off and on.

The old Powertaps and LYCs do this some times. You need to hold the two buttons to do a Find again on it so a similar thing on the Fenix would work - does it have a Find/Search?

Any shops in London have the Powertap G3 wrench in stock?
-
• #2540
Right at the end where you see the power and cadence come back is where I forced the Fenix to do a fresh search - and if found the Powertap right away.
Powertap wrench - I bought mine from Sigma, they had them in stock.
I have both types if you need? However I did find that a large adjustable spanner gets the new G3 cap off very easily with zero fuss and/or damage, just put one jaw against the ridge, and the other around the axle.

Power, i haz it.

^Nice.
Can anyone find a cheaper source for a Powertap G3 MTB disc hub than Wiggle at £527?

Have you calibrated your PT track? I assume it's done the same way as the geared version?
-
• #2544
Yep, same way - I always calibrate mine before setting off.
-
• #2545
The heavy weight dangly thing? Every time? Based on a very rough calibration, mine could be underreading by anywhere between 2.4% to 6.1% :/
-
• #2546
Ah, no - navigate to "calibrate" in the Garmin menu and press "yes".
Not hang a 20kg weight off the pedal axle and note the torque reading etc.

If I have P2M; is there a purpose to my GSC-10 sensor anymore?
-
• #2548
rear wheel speed on the turbo or rollers
-
• #2549
I think I'm going to buy a P2M once this month is up and paid. Right choice?
