  • Maybe the ones that have a sort of bridge that go over the brake, here

  • Now that i've missed the GB deal from planet x the only cheap choice is TF import from kinoko .. any experience? Or should just get chrmoplastics?

I've had a pair of hammered TF imports jobs on my commuter / winter bike for a while now and have been really happy with them. They were fitted in shop when there was a deal on and have given many miles of rattle free riding. I would certainly recommend them.

  • I'm looking at mudguards again, anyone know if the 45mm TFImports guards that Kinoko sells will fit on a Pompino? I'm running 35c tyres right now but probably gonna drop that down to somewhere between 28 and 32 so I think I'd still need the wider version of the TFguards.

  • My SKS Bluemels rattle like crazy on most surfaces. Is that normal? Also, I keep losing nuts. Had the LBS replace one today while I was there about something else (they only fitted the guards a week ago) and I've lost another one already.

  • Blue Loctite.

  • Thanks. Which number would that be?

  • Not sure, I've always gone by colour.
Just ask for the one that's not permanent.

  • Loctite 243

  • Thanks chaps.

  • the rear bridge mount has broken for my SKS Bluemels.

    anyone had this problem?

looks like this, but black plastic...

    Where to buy one?

  • sweet, cheers dude. seems like it requires bending which is a bit of a faff, but I'll get one and try it..

can't see why they dont just ship it with a metal one to start with.

  • Because chromoplastics

  • meh, do you even wide tyre?

  • sweet, cheers dude. seems like it requires bending which is a bit of a faff, but I'll get one and try it..

can't see why they dont just ship it with a metal one to start with.

it takes about 30 seconds with pliers, really no bother

  • apollo, I would just get a beefy piece of alu or steel, make an ell bend, pop holes in at either end and use that instead of the oem thing. Way stronger, tidier and quieter.

  • When PDW say that their road mudguards are designed to work with 23mm tyres, do they mean that they will also work with 25mm and 28mm tyres but they don't want to say that? Does anyone have any experience with that?

Same question for Specialized Plug and Play mudguards.

And where would one buy Curana C-Lites?

  • At 30mm wide, I'd say a 23mm tire would look and perform the best; if you go wider you'll need more vertical space. If you currently have that available you'll be fine, though you'll get more side spray.

  • Vertical space might not be so much of an issue because I'm running 25mm front/28mm rear on 23mm rims. The rear is a Continental Touring Plus which seems to be a very narrow 28mm.

After a week touring with no mudguards, and with no desire to put the wide, wide SKS Chromoplastics back on, I think even mudguards with a bit of side spray will be an improvement.

  • What stainless mudguards to fit around a 28c tyre which is coming up more like 30c?

  • 40mm would be ideal.

Anyone got a nackered set of guards that have I could nick something like this off? Only actually only need the longer sectiom so I can drop the bleumels down a tad on the front tyre.

Seems a shame to buy a new one just to hack it to pieces.. Will pay handsomely

  • Could you modify a corner bracket something like one of these?

might be a bit heavier though...

  • You will be drawn and quartered if you wreck a fender set just to get an L bracket. Do what MrE says, there are many more options even than he showed you, including just bending a piece of aluminum into the appropriate shape.

  • Mechano?
