Was just watching the second episode - there's an engineer or something has a laptop hooked to projector, where he shows modified bike to Guy. If you watch closely he has utorrent and VirtualDJ icons on the desktop.

Guy is currently second in the 24hour Solos at Strathpuffer.
Fucking hell.

I just watched Guy Martin's clip on the Channel 4 website where he's talking about his Merlin engine. He has it on a trolley with a cut down propellor, enough I guess to provide load to the engine, but not have it produce thrust. He said that he started it up in the workshop and pushed it to max power. At which point it moved across the workshop, leaving a trail of destruction, including his fixed wheel pushbike he's been training on getting chopped clean in half. I guess that would be this bike. RIP.
Worth a watch.

Think that's it...work internet not playing ball.

Why would you crank a 27 litre aero engine to full throttle in your house? Something tells me Mr Martin will not be around for long...

790hp of furious wooden propellors

Imagine this in your workshop...

Because you have one.

Is the right answer.

^I have a chum who's got one in his car
It's rather rapid but sadly clutch is inadequate to make a standing start - it must be towed up to 20mph before it engages making it somewhat inadequate for everyday use.
For normal everyday usage he has a Riley with a DeHavilland Gyposy engine.
He's done well to still be alive - he's probably pushing 50 now. -

the episode of top gear with the german guy and the messerschmitt engined black monster of a car that kept exploding and the bentley with the spitfire engine in

I'm guessing you're the kind of person that wouldn't go for a spin round the block if you were doing work on your car/bike that involved removing the exhaust?!

I wouldn't want to be in the crowd at the front when that propeller comes loose!

Happened upon this on Classic Lightweights, which makes interesting reading.

Looks like he is back on tv tonight with an ultimate tandem endurance race, how far can you go in 24 hours

It was proper good

Good work, but not comparable to what was done before: a recumbent trike with an aero fairing is not a tandem IMHO.
And not having Hippy on the team was a glaring omission.

• #224
Agreed, I was disappointed they weren’t on a conventional tandem. They might as well have just done it in a velodrome following a derny.
Next week’s episode looks good though. Pikes Peak is mental.

i blame mike burrows
Erm, if weight is such a consideration, why does he have aerobars fitted within the 'cabin' that he's not even using?
