  • 158kg????

  • lbs shirley.

  • Not everybody who works in one is a chubby.

  • haha yeah hats I've doubled in weight since you last saw me..

those pints really took their toll

  • Look at that belly....

    "it's not a gut, I'm belly breathing!"

  • The rule is: up to 40 mins of low intensity, fasted exercise in the morning is OK and will aid weight loss - that does mean you will have to keep your dick in you trousers on the commute though.

Anything longer/more intense will eat into glycogen stores and be a hindrance to weight loss rather than a help.

Interesting....I've been doing high intensity workouts 3 or 4 times a week on a empty stomach and then cycling to work for at least the last 6 months and my weight loss has been negligible/nothing compared to what it should be given the energy used/food put in ratios and amount of exercise I've been doing.

Have been seeing a GP about it and got an appt today to follow up on some blood tests but am starting to wonder if over-training is actually an issue?

Initially sounded like madness to me (see also not eating enough/starvation mode for Not Being Able To Get My Head Around) but I've been reading articles suggesting my level of gym going might actually be part of the problem?? I do around 5 high intensity work outs of around 45 mins a week and I really don't slack in those sessions according to my HRM...

  • If you have been eating less calories than expended for 6 months, no amount of overtraining/starvation mode would have held out this long.

Are you keeping a food diary and being completely honest in it, or as you are already doing then see a doctor.

Seen some decent movement on the scales this week to back up what the mirror has been telling me for the last 4 weeks since I completely cut out booze and have tried to avoid fat/sugar combos, and pretending to myself that because I'm doing ironman it's ok to eat more calories than I use in a day!

3kg down on a month ago, having my first rest day in 2 weeks (although I've still got 5 miles of cycling to do!) and looking forward to racing a half ironman in Marlow on Sunday! The only problem is without burning 1-2 thousand calories in a day exercising its a bit hard to stay under my calorie target!

  • I'm usually out that way on weekends. I'll throw you a gel if I see you :)

Yep - some days (generally weekends) I'm over but not by ridic amounts and if you take it as energy expended Vs eating over 7 days, I'm under the weekly amount.

I should say I did initially lose a stone over about 3 or 4 months when I started stepping up the exercise at the beginning of the year but the weight loss since April/May has kinda stalled : /

  • Going the wrong way.
Just seen some race photos, look like a fat fuck.
    Need to lose weight.

5:2 may start again, with meal replacements.
    Look at that belly....

Anyone bent over and breathing will look like they have a belly.

You need to talk to someone about your negative body image before you develop a full flown eating disorder.

  • ^ +1 at 67kg you are in no way fat...

  • ^^ some people are just fat though...

  • ^fair point about Tw2 tbh

  • and fatbeard

  • I got caught by the hunger monster yesterday but seem to have regained control pretty quickly, 4 Oreo ice cream sandwiches was excessive after 2 pub lunches back to back...

Hopefully back focussed on getting down to race weight before I'm 30 in 27 days time!

If I can avoid it, I'll have done nearly 3 months without drinking!

  • You're never 30.
Plus it was post-race, which you did awesomely in!
    Sub 5 man, so impressed!

This. Though I must commend not-so-subtle use of "epic solo attack" photo... Is that this years Christmas card?

  • No there's a black and white one a lap later, where the pain is even clearer on my face.

  • Hmm, how do we know that photo wasn't taken moments before Henry was about to be lapped?...

  • I can't find the post, but thank you to the person who recommended the book Racing Weight to me (@hippy?). It has helped me understand a bit better weight loss and training for endurance (where as I was taught nutrition based on teaching aerobics and there are subtle differences).

I'm going to go full out to shift this excess, just as soon as I've been to Bodeans on Wednesday. (There is space if anyone else wants to join us http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/162388/)

  • Reading Racing Weight at the minute. Seems quite good so far and I'm quite keen to give his dietary quality score table method thing a go and see how my eating stacks up.

  • Running is working, for now. Down consistently down to 69kg now. 3 down 4 to go.

  • Managed to shed 4.8KG in the last 4 weeks. Finally creeping back below 80KG, aiming for 75KG.

  • Stress of moving to microcosm?

  • The microcosm kilogram is larger, so he just appears to be thinner.
