Something for a 29er MTB?
-
• #1028
Yeah but they'll all be 32h or less if prebuilds?
I'd build System-Ex Hubs onto 36h Mavic A319 or A719 (pricey bling option) if I were in his shoes..

Any idea what's good for 26' 48h?
(Just rim, have hub waiting) -
• #1030
For 26" 48h I think you would be stupid to overlook NoBS.
-
• #1031
Do the lhbpa still have some 48h sputniks lying around somewhere?
-
• #1032
Maybe they are 700s...
-
• #1033
I would say Chukkers if you could find them. Are you replacing the rim on your current set? They are NoBS, not sure if BLB stock them but can ask. Failing that, there's always the 5 quid rim from sjs.

Why on earth do you need that many spokes?
-
• #1035
Why not? ;)

@N3il A319s are pretty good, but deeper-v are usually stronger and/because you can tension them crazy-tight. Chuckers are proven and the ones I built for Lucas were really good to build and I guess pretty strong as not even he could buckle them.
But if you can find something discounted that is deep and 36h it should be strong. Back in the early days I had no problems with 32h mid-v Rigida rims which used to be pretty cheap...

why not sputnik?

48h Chukker wins everytime. Been running same wheels for almost 2 years (rear wheel was second hand polo as well). A NoBS wheel taco'd during EHBPC final #justsayin

My Chukkers got dinged and bent to fuck, they're only two years old... Surprising as I didn't think I was that hard on them... Looking forward to getting the 719s built onto my Hopes...

• #1041
700 NoBS sucks.
-
• #1042
Are the gators brandnew? And what size? 1\8 ?
-
• #1043
My 36h halo freedoms have just played their fourth London open, the front could probably do with a new rim though.
-
• #1044
Those are not Chukkers. Might be DP18. You got them from dicki right?
-
• #1045
Ah, I must've imagined those Velocity stickers I took off them... And I didn't get them off dicki...
They're old stock 26" Deep Vs, which is, essentially, what Chukkers are...
Cupcake warned me to steer clear of the NoBS, loads of them taco'd in Florida or something?
-
• #1046
Sounds like quite a few NoBS have been taking a beating.
-
• #1047
Deep V are not Chukkers. Different width 24 v. 19mm and profile too 32 v. 30mm. Take less beating than a Chukker too ;)
-
• #1048
Haven't Velocity stopped making 26" Chukkers anyway? Hard to find now...
-
• #1049
I've managed to wreck three chuckers in the last two and a bit years (700's). Two were at the seem though.
Yes the lhbpa sputniks are 700.
The thing to remember is that force is weight squared (amongst other things) so if I hop, it's not just twice the force of Luca and jimmy hopping. It's a logarithmic function of the weight. So on the back at least I need 48h and strong.
Nah not replacing the nobs beagle, but going to build up a second wheelset...

so if I hop
You hop now?
Sooooo having broke both my wheels at the LO, what 700c 36h rims should i be getting that are (a) very strong and (b) won't make my polo bike my most expensive one?
I'm using discs, but i'm not a tart so don't mind if they still have a machined sidewall.
Anyone selling anything?
