No good if you are on the last page, as I usually am when finished reading, since it has no such button.
Unless I'm missing something?

Not for me. The text box or the "of 158"?
I am on mobile BTW.

The far right of all of them - just realised it may not be there on mobile...

Yep not there on mobile - but hitting first will at least take you to the top of the first page

Not able to sign in on my iPad.

Are you private browsing? If so you need to disable that under Settings > Safari or use another browser.
Persona needs to be able to set cookies and store session state.
Signing in on an iPad does work, so long as Persona can store that fact that you've signed in.

I've just obliterated a hell of a lot of 301 redirects.
You would never have noticed them, but removing them should make things fractionally faster as it saves 1 HTTP request for almost every page load.
The subtle bug... URLs like
/microcosms
didn't have a trailing slash/microcosms/
which would trigger a redirect. That happened on almost every internal URL.

Did you find that through some form of automated bug checking? Or just something you noticed?
(just an interested question)

I was looking through some HTTP traces trying to determine whether the measures I'd put in place with the browser caching strategy were working.
I have a fairly good eye for what the application should do, and was curious about the fact that the pagination links seemed to always trigger a 301 prior to returning the page.
Then I noticed this happened everywhere, but was so fast you wouldn't normally see it.
There may still be a few places left that are affected by this, specifically hard-coded URLs in templates. i.e. if a templates includes a link to
https://www.lfgss.com/search?type=event
rather thanhttps://www.lfgss.com/search/?type=event
then a 301 will be fired. -

Oh, and the browser caching strategy is working.
Yesterday we were pushing 5Mbps, today we're pushing below 2Mbps. Yet we're serving the same number of people and the same content.
Basically the static files, avatars and attachments are now cached for a very long time.

Any idea when the "jump to new post" function will return on the iPhone?

Any idea when the "jump to new post" function will return on the iPhone?
It seems to have been activated recently as it works for me at the moment...

Yep, just started working for me too. Am loving the site on my phone now.

You need to add luffguss to "some of our customers sites" bit on the microcosm website
and +1 on the site now being flipping awesome on phones!

Thank you, velo boy.

That's a "feature" of Markdown.
If you need them separated put two blanks lines between them.

I've renamed the "Travelling & Trips" forum to "Touring".
More people are doing it, might as well make it a good place to keep tour diaries now that the forum is far better on mobiles and crappier connections.

Use more chevrons

There were already two blank lines between them. I've tried three and more, to no avail.
