Author of the Chrome extension here. Let me know if you just find it useful or if you have any other feedback or wishlist.
(No Firefox version I'm afraid; I just don't use that browser.)
Just wanted to say thank you for making it possible to hide feed entries and some other useful features.

Have other people started to receive some wtf Kudos lately. Two people I never met gave me Kudos for cycling to Work and back and then the Flask via Alley Pally. Pretty Epic I know but… Why?

• #3355
They love you?
I got some I think they are just people trying to get followers kudos ect.

Have been getting that as well. Weirding me out a bit. Some German called "snoopy kissed marcy", a Saffa called "Ryno ..." and a guy from KL, all starting giving my commutes kudos in the past couple of days.
I mean, my commutes, not even the weekend rides. Starva rep whores can >>>>

Same Three Guys.
Yeah, at least they could give it to the 90 miles I rode on sat, rather than the 20 yesterday. Weird.

Block them, it's pretty simple. Or make your account Follow by request only.

I just got Kudos from a ride dated August 2013.

does Strava lower the avg speed of your ride, recorded by (i.e.) Garmin 800?
in my activities it is always 0.2 to 0.1 kph slower than in Garmin Connect.
-
• #3363
I think it removes any data from when you're not moving. It always seems to average a bit faster than on my garmin 800.
-
• #3364
ah yes. I see the moving times in Garmin and Strava differ.

Yeah, from what I understand, strava does quite a thorough (ish) analysis of the data, it cleans up static data then recalculates speeds/averages/times. I'm guessing garmin just goes straight with the data from the device.

Any opionions on taking KOMs while drafting lorrys or buses? Seems to occur more often in my area now and turns these nice little challenges into comparisons of who's inclined most towards suicidal idiocy. I don't really care what people do on their rides, even when they're on Strava, but I'd feel like I wouldn't deserve the KOM then..On the other hand, the boundary between KOMing on fast group rides while drafting and drafting vehicles is kind of diffuse anyway.
This segment is a good example:

the first 'legit' effort is #6 I reckon. -

That's why it's named "KOM", they are only pertinent for climbs IMO.

Got kudos on 2 turbo trainer rides from Ryno too. His photo is much triathlete.

• #3369
I got a downhill 'kom' the other day, I had to do 60 down the hill then sprinted onto the bumper of a car and drafted* along at 40+.
Worth it.

yeah, but if people stuck to this orthodoxy, there'd be no segments around for a 100+km radius. It is incredibly flat around here.
-
• #3371
Yep, Snoopy kissed marcy repped a couple of my short fixed rides pootling around the suburbs. Bit bizarre.
-
• #3372
Flag them as motor assisted.
-
• #3373
I think it would be a bit of a harsh move as it would void any other segments in the activity. I really don't care that much about it, just think it's a bit lame people do that.. I've considered commenting, but in the end you probably always seem like a super serious stravasshole

How are you ever going to tell?
a/ you don't know it wasn't a group
b/ you don't know how strong they are
c/ it's not healthy to care
one of their engineers must be enacting his own superman 3 plot to steal small bits of riding from all the other athletes activities until he eventually becomes the worlds most active athlete.
