• It should have stopped altogether now.

At worst, you need to sign out of Persona via https://login.persona.org/ and to wipe any cookies and saved data your browser might have for LFGSS.

Then... that's it. No refreshing, it just works (like it should've done from day one).

  • Nice one.

FWIW I do think it is all very lovely and impressive, even with a few teething problems.

They just add character anyway, no one likes perfection.

  • Chrome won't connect to you at the moment.
    Says I'm ok.
    Says CloudFlare (?) is ok.
    Says problem is at host.

    Safari gets me in.

  • If you had entered lfgss.com as the totality of the address then you caught me decommissioning the old server.

I've put the redirect from non www back in, but that may not have SSL overnight.

  • Ah, works now.
Thanks for all your labours V.

  • How do you get the search function to show results by recency?

For example, I do a search for "saddle" looking for the most recent threads with saddles for sale. At the moment it just ranks by relevancy, so I'm getting results from years ago because the just have saddle in the title.

  • Is on the radar.

  • @Velocio Hey David, how do you close sales threads? and erase complete posts too?

I found the tool to strike through but would prefer closing threads to keep things tidy.

Also the LFGSS logo on my Android phone is all squashed, not sure why but it must be a compatibility issue.

Other than that, the search tool is taking time to get used too but I'm sure we'll manage.

    Cheers

    Vince

  • I've noticed a problem with Safari, seemingly on both OS X and iOS, where the jump to latest comment doesn't work. From comparing with Chrome it seems the part of the address after the offset is being dropped. So what in Chrome is:
    http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/252832/?offset=350#comment11755714
    in Safari is:
    http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/252832/?offset=350
Can't properly tell in iOS, but I imagine it's the same thing.

So far, that's the only niggle, the rest is great.

  • This is Safari. It has a bug in WebKit that others (such as Google Chrome) have fixed.

When performing a redirect, they drop any #anchor . We are aware of it and will be testing possible workarounds soon.

  • Is there a way to delete posts? I clicked on the edit button and don't see a delete option…

  • I just generated a bunch of internal server errors by refreshing this url: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/157436/newest/ while logged out. After I logged back in it became accessible.

So, y'know, if you're wondering wtf all the errors in the logs are, some of them are probably connected to that.

Edit: Also I should have put this in a different thread, soz.

  • What the hell happened to the Forum..... Sorry I was sleeping...

    .....for the past year.

  • Where is the watches thread?

Is following the same as sub'd threads?

  • watches: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/143800/
    following same as subbed: yes

  • sorry if this has already been addressed but-

I use multiple gmail accounts and I'm having conflicts when logging into the forum. Is there a way to log in without having to log out of my current google session?

  • Easiest way: Don't use a gmail account.

Head over to https://login.persona.org and sign in.

There you can manage your email accounts... nuke the Gmail ones.

Add a non-gmail one and be sure to set up or change your password so that you know what it is.

You'll now be able to sign-in to Persona using the non-Gmail account.

That solves the Gmail multi-account issues... but leaves you signing in to LFGSS as a new account. Do this, and then PM me and I will swap the accounts around so that your non-Gmail account accesses your @salmonchild account.

  • Cheers VB will sort when I get home

  • Yes - enable multiple sign-in on your google accounts. Log in to all the accounts you use. Persona will ask you which one you want to use when you next sign in with it.

  • Forgive my technical illiteracy but how do I pm someone? I dibs ed something on a thread but cant see how to pm the op?

  • click their name, click send message

or messages top right and new message...

  • If you cant see the send message button press the three dots in the top right

  • Is there a how-to on the search function, or an advanced search page feature?

  • Probably been covered already but I liked to be able to see who was browsing a thread when I logged into the old forum. Any plans to replicate in #microcosm?
