  • I actually started designing a new system.

    Called it, "Yay Meh Grr"

Yay! 22:45 on the H10/2 tonight
Grr Catastrophic inner tube explosion in the rear wheel after I finished
Meh It was while the bike was leaning up against my van

  • First half of the field out on the Commonwealth Games TT.

Feel sorry for the Kenyan who had pedal problems and had to give up (couldn't be fixed and the spare bike had the wrong type of pedals somehow).

  • Full rep to whichever LBS leant the Cervelo to the Malawi rider.

Billy Bisland Cycles and they ended up donating (not loaning) a couple of Genesis top-end race bikes for the RR too.

  • I know I've been a bit slow, but I can only hope this report was worth waiting for.:

Well done! - I'd be more than happy to lose an inner tube under those circumstances.

I wondered why Hutch wasn't at the Cambridge TT this evening, it seems he was busy coming 12th in Glasgow.

Sadly no one got round our course as there was an early faller on the slippy wet roads and the event was abandoned. I probably would have won.

Great write up! To do over 25 miles old school, outside takes some doing, quality.

I've booked Aldersley velodrome on the 3rd September for an attempt on the hour (with aero kit), we haven't been able to find a previous mark so it'll just be a benchmark, hopefully just under 45km. With any luck I'll have telemetry running and can put a link on here with a live data graph. Now just need to lose a bit of weight (affects Crr as well as CdA) and Not Be Shit to get round with a half decent distance.

  • 650c tub recommendations for TTing? Not for me, obviously - Cycliste's just bought a tub disc wheel on eBay.

  • Not so many options now as there were in the good old days, but quite a few people seem to like Conti Sprinter. Vittoria Corsa CX is good and available in 26" too.

My alarm clock started beeping - don't fuck it up, the chances are 90% you are going to fuck it up.

  • Sure.

    Women's trike LEJOG record set.

  • Very well done and huge congratulations to Jane - sounds like it was a hard ride

  • Done my first 25 mile TT. Actually, it was more of a 25.8 mile TT for me, as I missed a turning at a roundabout, dropped my water bottle, and took quite a while to work out I'd fucked up. Still, 1.05:28 isn't too shabby, particularly as i wasted 2.5 minutes fannying around with my bottle-dropping detour.

Cycliste did a 1.11:something on her first ever TT. I think she enjoyed it - she nearly caught her minute man, who's the club president.

  • Good stuff. Taking detours is all part and parcel of it. #expertdetourist

  • Reckon this is more or less aero than using an Xlab or PRO cage that sticks straight out the back like mine?

Anyone have a spare wind tunnel?

  • I'd have thought you'd very easily lose bottles with a cage at that angle.

  • Not sure. A good cage will probably hold onto them and the bumps are in the vertical plane right so there's less chance of the bottle going upwards? Maybe? Dunno.

  • First shot is from Kona, no? I don't think they're renowned for their potholes there.

  • Any funky ideas for preventing Shiv bar pads rotating?

Bigger clamps for more grip on the extensions?
Bracing across the two sets of pad bolts so there's something else resisting downward force?

  • Maybe something as simple as some grip paste between the clamp and the extension?

  • Tried that already. They used to be ok because they were further in and rested on that alu bodge washer you can see. Now the pads are further out, they don't rest on that washer and just fold down after a few pothole hits.

  • Some kind of brace between the pads would be the best bet I would have thought....
