  • It was OK, some big crashes though- one guy moved out of my wheel to pass me, straight into a traffic island, for example.

Lots of people on the deck and some very sketchy riding from groups.

I'm in the Raphe having coffee and warming up now.

  • Was a great ride. Had a flat after 2m from my front door tho :-(
Proper lashed it down. Just got in, had a shower and now about to eat some left overs. Will go back down to the finish to see my mate come in now. Will say a few more words later.

  • Finished in 3hr 50m, I just kept my head down and rode
I saw so many crashes at the front :( think Im in post traumatic shock, can just hear the sound of carbon grinding against tarmac ringing in my ears.

    Why god... Why?

  • Was a bit wet.
Good fun though, excpet the sewage.
    Home, fed, showered and relaxed.
    3:42 apparently, not displeased.

  • Well done all. Some fast times by the sounds of things, especially in those conditions. Did you do Box and Leith, or did they route around them?

  • Skipped those, was a little dull without them.
    86.

  • Kat_Balou
Workmate lives on the route near Putney bridge. Said they've retarmacced it especially for Sunday and that it will be dug up again on Monday.

No amount of tarmac could fill that hole by the bus stop.

  • Anyone know if the London Surrey Classic is being televised? Green Park big screens per chance?

  • Yep BBC or Eurosport...

  • BBC1 at 2pm

  • A lot people in crumbled piles on side of road or traffic islands being tended by medics. Two looked unconscious. Worrying. Saw a guy go skating down the descent into Shere on his back like a hockey puck for no apparent reason.

Ridiculous weather but quite warm so not as miserable as it may appear. Wind stayed light thankfully. I rode it for the novelty of the closed roads more than anything. Probably won't enter for next year.

    vv ouch on both

  • Amazing scenes

  • Rode about 30 miles in the Marianne Vos group. She is smaller than I had imagined.

  • WalkLondon100

    WalkLondon86

  • Wow, the pros were out then

  • Hydration 4lyf

  • Glad i made it around unscathed, a huge pile up on part of the route before Walton, managed it in 4hrs 27mins, I'm getting closer to averaging 20miles an hour although perhaps had conditions been good today I may have ache over this.

Anyway can't beat closed roads out of and into London!

    Good Fun

  • 4:46 riding time, plus about a half hour total faffing with two punctures. Quite happy with that, given I couldn't walk this time last year. Woo.

Managed to stay clear of any carnage although I was yelling 'hold your line' at people a lot. Felt quite sketchy in places.

A friend got taken out by a group crash, both her and bike have injuries so she had to withdraw. Haven't had a chance to find out more than that yet, but doesn't sound like much fun.

Edit to add - in before the Lynchman jokes.

  • Kind-of-wtf-lol at that Trek and the queue. Where is that?

Hope the Trek's owner is OK.

  • The queue looks like Richmond Park?

  • Yes that's apparently the vicious incline of Sawyer's Hill

  • Problem with Richmond Park is that there was very little space to get past people who don't do hills, especially when they ride three abreast to give each other moral support. Got very bunched up and pushy, I dropped back quite a few times to try to keep out of trouble. Didn't see that level of walking silliness, though, just not-very-fluid cycling.

  • I heard it might have been after a crash?

  • Eesh looks like Contador had been riding that Trek.

I enjoyed myself 51%. I'll keep the negative aspects to myself as overall it was well run and probably a fun day out for any. Managed 19mph avg which was close to my goal but realised these kind of events don't suit me very well. Generally clear roads for me but yes a good few casualties on the roadside. Very pleased to have my track skills ie look THEN move as it saved me from many situations. Others could have employed the technique a bit more as well I thought. But standard of riding wasn't so bad.

I saw santini? at the finish. He was in good spirits. Well done all.

  • I heard it might have been after a crash?

I can well believe that, it was getting quite pushy on that stretch.
