Need some advice, I've had an ongoing shoulder muscle pain (well, the bit on top/behind the shoulder between the shoulder and neck if that makes sense) on my left side for a good couple of years now. It used to only happen if I ran with a pack or ran a particularly long distance but it seems now to crop up far more regularly. When it happens it makes it very painful to move my left shoulder (can run still, doesn't stop arm movement) and makes it very painful to turn my neck.
Obviously the sensible thing would be to go to a physio which I will when I can afford to, but in the interim does anyone have any suggestions on stretches/cures/remedies?

Edit: It also appears on long drives.
