  • Lube yourself first, get the top half off coming out of the water

  • Filth.

  • Also I'm over 2 minutes quicker over 1500m in a wetsuit, it's not just about warmth!

Over a sprint though you do have to account for the extra time to take the thing off vs no wetsuit, but I'm pretty sure it takes me less than a minute!

Yeah, I'm sure I would been slightly quicker too. I don't actually have one yet, and I didn't want to buy one for the sake of a Sprint, especially one where I'd be trying to take the damn thing off while [st]sprinting[/st] stumbling up a pebbled beach.

  • My T2 was 01:21. So...elastic laces - Talk to me. What do I buy?

I just have the laces pre-tied, and put a bit of talcum powder in the shoe, which helps soak up a little moisture and helps you slid them on.

  • I used some £1.99 elastic laces, which I kept in long after the tri.

It's only elastic at the end of the day.

  • I still have a set of elastic laces I raced in back in Oz. Dunno why I brought them back over here, there's no fucking way I'm swimming anywhere near England.

  • I am doing my first standard/olympic distance triathlon at Bewl Water on Saturday morning.

    Looking forward to it!

Is going for a 10km run this evnening a good or bad idea?

  • You're very unlikely to gain anything from it. I wouldn't.

  • You can't get any fitter, you can get injured. What he said^.

  • that was my gut feeling...

i fancy it though. maybe go for a swim instead

  • You're unlikely to do any damage swimming.

    Oh.

  • You could drown or get bitten by a giant prawn or stang off a stingray.

  • Dr Hutch riding tomorrow in the Commonwealth Games.

  • cough Faster than him over 12hrs cough

  • 10k 3/4 days before doesn't sound like a bad plan, I'd probably take it easy and add a few race pace efforts of less than 1k once you're warmed up, it won't hadd anything but shouldn't do any damage, and will probably help avoid any jitters.

I usually rest 2 days out and then do a couple of short easy sessions the day before, like a 20 minute swim followed by a 20-30 minute bike to make sure everything is working and have a mini transition practice too

  • I still have a set of elastic laces I raced in back in Oz. Dunno why I brought them back over here, there's no fucking way I'm swimming anywhere near England.

But a canal in Northern France is Ok?

  • Sorry to jump in with this, but a mate of mine is having some Ironman bother - maybe someone could help out?

  • Not hugely helpful I know, but this is c 51cm and has been listed a zillion times so could probably be had for a bit less than the asking price....

  • Thank you, have sent him link in case it's useful.

  • I would be more helpful, in that i have a 51cm TT bike, but its 5 weeks from my IM, and i need it to ride myself!

  • Well, looks like I have just been roped into the cycling leg of the Olympic distance team relay at the London Tri tomorrow.

Treat it like a 40km TT right...?
    Any advice...?

(looks like it will be pissing it down)

  • Don't treat it as a race, try not to be taken out by numpties, be patient, have fun.

  • You can probably save some energy by getting into the slipstream of the person in front.

  • But seriously, no practical advice other than go fast and watch out for dick moves.

Where's the course? I realise I could google this but...no.

  • Roundabouts will be congested, as will sharp turns.

You will be drafted by everyone.

    It's a twatfest.
