Why the fuck do people still use shite terms like 'super foods'. Does it do anything ordinary food doesn't do? No? well then, why are you calling it that? It's like we've just discovered this shit. Call it what it is, a berry, nut or fruit.
All this superfood claptrap makes all these foodies seem just that little bit more dense.
I'm sure it's good enough to be served up my ass and still taste good, but sweet jesus, enough with the superfoods shit.Rant over.

They sound fantastic. One for the future methinks. I make rice cakes but have been finding they don't really deliver the energy hit I need
Ive been making these recently. so unbelievably delicious and easy to eat while riding. also find that they give me the perfect balance of something instantly and something that will last a while.

I was eating crushed dates and almonds before I had teeth. It sure as hell hasn't made me super, or any healthier then a well rounded diet can for that matter.
If it were the case, near enough every Mediterranean person would be living to 150 and shitting pure excellence.
I don't have an issue with healthy living. I have issues with marketing shtick masquerading as pseudo science to get people to pay more for what is, essentially, just another food group. -

Does anyone have a recommendation for carb drinks? As an alternative to gels I guess (never been attracted by them).
I've just battled through a big bag of Zipvit which was gross, and stained my bottles :(
Also tried SiS stuff a while back which I didn't mind, despite tasting quite synthetic and a bit syrupy..Never really liked High-5 electrolyte tabs, but would try their energy stuff if it's good?
Fanks!

I too never liked the SiS stuff. Torq energy drink powder was the last stuff I had and worked ok for me.

I remember riding to Cambridge with the forum once when a member pulled out his mod ride snack - a McDonald's cheeseburger that had been in the back pocket of his jeans for the previous 2.5 hours...!
Name and shame.
Brian Kwan. That was a good day out.

+1 for Torq.
I only use it when it's needed (racing or long/fast winter rides) as it's pricy.
You can buy maltodextrin and fructose and make your own 2:1 mix add sea salt and juice.
SIS use lots of sweeteners that taste bad to me (aspartame I think).

I use high 5's 4:1 Carb to Protein powder if going any further than around 80 miles. Otherwise just electrolytes.
The high 5 drink don't taste too bad, but I rarely use it to the full concentration recommended.

Cheers!
Guess I'll give Torq a go - I'll probably not use it more than once (or twice) a week at most, so hopefully it won't seem too expensive :)

Another +1 for torq, not used their energy drink but their gels work for me and taste almost acceptable too.

Rhubarb and custard torq gels ftw! Delicious.
Those energy balls up there look good, I need to start making my own stuff rather than eating nakd bars as they are nice but pricey.
