Just downloaded The Forest and Verdun cheapish on steam.
Verdun - good, fun WWI squad based battles. Small maps - a bit like a moveable 'Rush' map on BF4. i.e. linear map that moves back and forth as you capture and hold or defend and lose control points. Clunky movement but only an alpha I think (as most games seem to be). No real learning curve - just thrown straight into the trenches which seems apt. Barely any unlocks in terms of equipment, though if you survive with your squad intact you advance quite quickly. Quite refreshing compared to efforts from Dice. £4.99
5/10
The Forest - Can see it getting very boring very quickly. Chop tree. Carry log bag to base one at a time. Repeat x 89 = log cabin. Nice idea but far too sparse. Combat uneccessary as well - though am aware they're planning a version without the horror aspect of the game. Would like just a pure survival game set in the Canadian Rockies or something without having a bunch of creepy naked mutants standing, doing a little dance and then standing somewhere else. Annoying animations too that need to complete before you can move on, a bit like Far Cry. £10
5/10
Have been plugging away at assignments on BF4 PC - unlocked all the bronze ones at last. most of silvers and golds - probably around 70pc total. Then I watched an OU programme on gamification in marketing and wanted to punch myself. Might uninstall and get on with my life.
