  • Does anyone have any experience with an Olympus 35 SP? Mine is scratching my film quite badly and I don't know where the problem is. I think the scratches are on the back of the film, the glossy side, that would face out the back of the camera.

I took it to a camera repair shop and he couldn't see any problems. I thought it might be the metal roller to the left of the pressure plate but I have put some cloth tape on it and it didn't make a difference.

I have just been cloning out the marks with photoshop but it is getting really tedious and I'm reluctant to put any decent film through it now.

Also, it doesn't appear to affect the very last frame of the film, which would mean its something happening near the take up spool?

Below is an example of the scratches (not even too bad in this pic, they're usually worse) and shots of the camera...

  • Did you try a different lab for developing / does it occur with film from other cameras developed at the same lab as well?

  • Yeah about 6 different films, 3 different labs. All my other films from other cameras are fine.

This is another photo I really like.

  • Yea, neat!

  • Colour dropkick

  • Mju-ll / Fuji C200 (+ some VSCO nonsense)

  • ^ Mju II is a great camera.

    Olympus 35 SP - Agfa Vista 200

  • You guys like?

Also is there away to use VSCO filters on a computer?

  • Yeah you can buy vsco presets for Photoshop/camera are and Lightroom.

  • I've an ancient old wood and brass camera from the 1880s for sale here if anyone's a collector or militant enough to use such cameras!

  • Filters on film = lame-a-rama

  • Yeh, I've tried using some and it always just too much. Especially if the filter is the same as the film. Portra 160 film with a Portra 160 filter, like, double film?

  • Yesterday's fantastic fail.
Decided to put in the effort and carry my RB67 kit all the way to Great Gable in the Lake District only to discover I'd left my Light meter in the fucking car. Shot 3 shots at 125th at f9 anyway (totally forgot about the sunny 16 rule). Fuckers.

  • Not as bad as me, drank a bit much and shot one and a half rolls through the 690 with the lens cap still on at my Gran's 80th birthday party.

damn rangefinders and not being able to see through the lens....

  • Grans parties sound like they're off the chain!

  • like, double film?

Yo, I heard you like Portra?
    : P

Anyways, the image you show in the end is what it's about, isn't it.
If I'm blown away by a picture I'm not questioning if the photographer used filters or not.

This may be cruel beyond belief, but I'm sure you'll forgive me, if it helps you out in the future.

  • I know there's light meter apps out there, but there's not much 3g in the Lake District!

  • I know there's light meter apps

I carried a Canon 1000D for like two weeks, shot like five photos with it - as I brought it along to have a light meter for a 503CW.
Shortly after returning home I learned about iPhone apps, and realized they would have served me just as well.

  • I had a go at photographing some of this lovely London lightning last week.

Using my Electro 35 GX and tmax I was utterly disappointed when, after pressing the shutter right as the lightning strike occurred, the battery ran out.

An electro 35 with a flat battery reverts to the max shutter speed - 1/500 in the case of the GX. With f16 I wasn't hopefully of developing anything.

Yesterday I did a 1+100 Rodinal stand development. The result is confusing me!
Anyone have any ideas of what is going on here:

    ftfy?

The only problem I see is that the image is underexposed but you already mentioned that so I guess I'm missing something.

  • Thanks!

I'm trying to search for how to post images :)

But back to the lightning? the thing I find strange is the action in the road (St Pancras Way) here is a close up:

  • This was my set up shot, whilst the battery still worked

And here is a close up of the Shard on the dead battery shot:

  • that's the camera moving during the exposure. was it on a tripod? probaly mirror slap or wind or shaky hands.
