  • ^Looks cunty. But then everyone's a cunt and everything gives you cancer. I paid a tenner for some scrambled eggs in one his restaurants ten years ago and vowed never to go back. But I refuse to feel bad for following a rice recipe off the internet. He desn't have a patent out on mejadra.

  • My mom is/was a homeopath. It is for sure fake but the people who believe in its pseudoscience the most are the practitioners. I mean my mom went to school for years to learn the dark majycks of sugar pills. Also I wasn't vaccinated until my grandmother did it in secret when I was visiting her.

    My best friend growing up's mom is a healer. She thought she could cure cancer with her hands/crystals/etc. Who knows how many people would have been better off with radiation and chemo?

    These people aren't monsters they are just misguided.

    Also the grilled broccoli with garlic lemon and chili is great.

  • I fully agree. And with one of the least reliable spellings. The Israeli place near my work spells it two different ways on their same menu.

    There needs to be a pinyin for مجدرة‎ or מג'דרה

    looks like it was real wasabi.
    The beef was actually the most amazing surprise, far exceeds any other beef I had, including
    Argentina or Uruguay.

  • This is boss and was a total success thanks dude. Was absolutely delicious and i'll def make it again.

    In the end I made a sort of ras al hanout-esque dry rub to coat two large chickens that I spatchcocked and roasted but over a grill pan so a lot of the fat dripped away. 40 mins on a medium heat then covered with foil and turned right down for the rest so they got crispy skin but stayed moist. served them roughly chopped so people could get a mix of dark and white meat.

    Also did a load of lamb leg steaks marinated in tonnes of garlic, lemon, black pepper and olive oil and crushed rosemary. Barbecued them but kept just pink in the middle.

    I made a huge fatoush style salad of cucumber, red onion, radish, celery, tomato, mint, parsley, lemon juice with hummus and yoghurt dressings on the side.

    I had bought loads of flatbreads but with the mejadra there wasn't much need for them. Just realised I forgot to char the fennel. Ah well.

    No pics as I was too busy cooking then eating then drinking (all whilst entertaining a gaggle of feral toddlers).

    That write up sounds like a perfect summer roast dinner.

    We went to Restaurante Campinos in Belem for lunch today, amazing... I had grilled cuttlefish with boiled potatoes and salad and Mrs TS had the swordfish with rice... Washed down with lashings of delicious copos brancos... €24.90, I left a €5 tip... We're off to some new 'street food' type place in a market for dinner, a few cherry brandys on the way...

    Tomorrow will be secret piri piri chicken spot for lunch and Can the Can for tinned fish on toast with a fado soundtrack... Lisboa is awesome!

  • I found beef shin yesterday at the local butcher. I hurried home from work grabbing a few supplies and made an improvised boeuf bourguignon consisting of whatever I grabbed and what I had at home. I rendered some lardons a bit in a dutch oven and seared the beef shin on its sides.

    I hope to god that what we call a Dutch oven here in the UK, is different from where you are!

    A dutch oven is a large cast iron cookpot used for outdoor cooking over a campfire. Not a juvenile fart joke.

  • You have to bear in mind that on this forum there isn't really any distinction between 'juvenile' and 'grown up'.
