  • I always read the 'Is it time to start calling out.. ' thread half expecting to be in it.

  • I've not washed my gloves in a fortnight and the office is out of frebreeze.

  • mitts or gloves? gloves get washed once a season, mitts basically never!

  • Mitts. I shoved them in the wash yesterday evening but they were pretty foul.
    Seriously never? wow :)

  • I sweat for 10 people. Mitts can't go longer than 5 day's commuting before they need to be washed.

  • hmm my hands don't really sweat much? I think it helps that my mitts are all leather or mostly leather, gloves get pongy but they're all synthetic and closed in, not very breathable. my mitts probably stink, I just haven't noticed...

  • Nobody can resist my manly musk, hence why I never wash my gloves.

  • My hands don't sweat, but I wipe my forehead often with the back of my mitts (which have a "Absorbent microfiber surface for wiping away sweat").

  • I've had to buy new mitts for the summer as my last pair got so smelly that washing them didn't help.

  • Overnight in the freezer to kill the bacteria

  • I got athlete's foot on my hands last winter due to poor glove hygiene (total gross)

  • Just shows you're an all round athlete.

  • 30 seconds in the microwave works for me when they get bad. kills all the stink bugs. then i wash them in the shower along with my helmet and my helmet.

    tmi?

  • tmi?

    Timotei?

Does this mean I don't have to wash my gloves every other day?!?11!1

  • Overnight in the freezer to kill the bacteria

A home freezer doesn't get cold enough to kill allot of bacteria, it will just make it hibernate, anti bacterial soap and warm water is easiest and best option

  • anti bacterial soap
    Otherwise known as "soap".

Biological detergents could possibly break down the fats / proteins that the smelly bacteria feed on.

The temperature of the water is all but immaterial, unless you're talking very hot water. Which would then denature the enzymes in the biological detergent...

  • ...and might damage some of the plastics and rubbers used, especially in MTB gloves.

  • Cotton cycling cap...it's getting enough to clear a room by now. Maybe Merino Wool ones would be a gap in the market...

...if they don't already exist. I don't shop at Rapha you see... :P

Ok, A home freezer doesn't get cold enough to kill allot of bacteria, it will just make it hibernate, soap and water is easiest and best option

    same message

  • hibernate them every night, must slow them down a bit.

  • I just dettol-ed a whole set collection of gloves & mitts.

I love the smell of Dettol.

  • My underpants match my socks

  • For the first time ever today I was overpowered by the smell of my own socks.
