• Monoglaze? Please elaborate. Googled it but still don't understand.

  • I have in the past on a few restoration had to sand down by hand using wet & dry sandpaper if it's just reducing one size, start with a course paper & then work up to a fine paper, this will reduce the diameter of the seat post! when finished it will look as it does now but smaller! remember to keep checking the size so you dont go to small always remember you will have to polish with fine paper so dont go to far with the course paper :-)

  • what a banger. front super aero went to a good home!

  • If you seat post is aluminium sand the it down with wet & dry, it's only 2/10 of a millimetre, start with a 240 grit & work up to a fine & then polish, it doesn't take that long :-)

    Nice job so far !

if i were you i would do Monoglaze process, it's easy and even cheaper ;)

Monoglaze? Please elaborate. Googled it but still don't understand.

it's his forum username, not an actual named procedure ;)

  • Don't do the above if your post is anodised though.

  • This was anodized black Selle Italia 27.2 now 27.0
Anodising is a hard sacrificial coating ( aluminium oxide) which may be coloured or siver.
Once removed with wet or dry paper from say 240 grit to 1000 grit it can then be polished to a super shine

  • Anodising is just a bit of a pig to get through but once you are through it's plain sailing :-) You can see in Si46 pic above that he has masked off & left a black top, nice job! I used a mouse sander on a anodised 3TTT stem to change it from grey to polished alloy on my Olmo lo-pro just to break through! but you can do a fair bit of the work this way.

Yeap just realised that after seeing monoglaze's reply, haha.

Don't do the above if your post is anodised though.

It is anodised and I don't really want to "Monoglaze" my seatpost. Will either ream or buy 27.0 seatpost. Thanks for all the suggestions though!

  • Yeh reaming the frame is a great idea - bit like chopping a bit off the end of your old chap if your pants are too small. Frames are carefully engineered with correct wall thicknesses for reasons .

  • It is anodised and I don't really want to "Monoglaze" my seatpost. Will either ream or buy 27.0 seatpost. Thanks for all the suggestions though!

If I were you I'd try a couple of 27.2 mm seatposts, before risking damage to the frame by over clamping etc.

or gently clean the inside of the seattube

  • 650 and new 700c Inner tubes have arrived and found some 27.0 seatpost (thx Jay!). The 700c tubes fit perfectly now on the rear but the front 650c is too big! What's up with these tubes and Araya? My rim is 650c x 15, not 24", and erd is 530. The inner tube that I bought is 650x19-23. Checked ETRTO and I thought this should fit fine no? Can someone please enlighten me?

  • youre overthinking it with the inner tubes. get an outer around that inner and all will be fine.

then take pics and post m.

  • i.e. the extra length is no prob. i cant remember an inner not being st least two inch longer the dia and ive never had a prob. its just like that. its rubber youknow

  • Quite normal. Just make sure not to fold it. Lots of small wrinkles to take up the slack is better.

  • it's fine, I've ran mtb inners in a 20" bmx tyre before with no problems

  • I've had the same recently with some conti race 28's inners (more excessive than normal) As above, just make sure it doesn't fold and should be fine.

btw, this is some serious shit, Kal. Glad to see you got your Track Pursuit project at last...and in some mighty fine style. Get them tyres fitted and show it off asap!

  • The tube will fit. Don't fold it as aforementioned.
You were looking for 650c tanwalls..?
20c, Michelin and weird colour but - http://www.lfgss.com/thread130014.html#post4334834 - reviews arn't to bad either.

Can't wait to see this built. Props on finding that 650c SA rim!

  • ^Yes, saw that but prefer 23/25c
Followed the suggestions on loose inner tube and it does fit. The build has finally finished! Did a test run just now and it rides like a dream! Still need some slamming but it's pretty much done.

  • ohohohoh! looks like a fun ride! Awesome build!

  • Very nice Kal!

    Love those Somec pixel decals

  • Saddens me to think this will doubtless be split and sold not long from now, so nice.

  • ^^^Fun indeed!
^^ Thanks! Loving the decals too!
^ It's for sale.. Just kidding. Which part you looking for?

  • The part where you keep this beauty and enjoy it for a few months at least!

  • ^^^ I always thought that was the LFGSS way, source the parts, build, ride it for a few weeks then sell. :p
