Beautifully ridden and he's still up there in the GC. Higher than Teejay van Backstabber.

Why backstabber? Is this a cuddles thing?

Funny how French riders doing well coincides with a sudden absence of dopage accusations/rumours/gossip in the media pack.
-
• #3357
Are you suggesting that the French always ride clean and the current level playing field is helping them?
-
• #3358
Or that the french should spend less time on the bikes trying to ride faster and just spend more time doping better?
-
• #3359
I think he is suggesting that there is an outside chance that cycling commentators are culturally biased.

I don't think it's just the French. What about Nibs? There were rumours around his Giro win, but I haven't heard anything in the last two weeks. Which I'm happy about.
Anyway, doping thread >>>>>>>>>

Nibs is clean as.
Tony G is emerging as a new hero. Wicked riding.

a) Amazing Tour so far - not a dull stage. Even the potential Kittel v Cav shoot out has barely been missed.
b) Green Jersey could have had a bit more competition, but watching sulky Sag fight for pretty much every point has been good.
c) Seeing so many riders cracking or putting in one big effort one day then gone the next is so much more exciting than the dopage years. The efforts seem believable and it looks so much more painful - the riders seem human, not super-human. (Doping thread >>>>)
d) Though I wish Valverde would cock off. Come on Timothéés - only a few seconds to catch up.

Makes a great image indeed. Watching the highlights last night my girlfriend started laughing when they were all sprinting behind galloping Gallopin and then remarked "they look scary, like a pack of angry dogs chasing him" Not a bad image!
Check out Cyclingtips.au (?) each day. Photo roundup of every stage from some really talented photographers.

Nnooooo!!!
Meh, he was cooked. Good on him though.

The way Robbie Hunter seemed in his interviews...maybe it's that accent...I'd be shit scared of abandoning if he was my DS.
The ITV highlights commentary was something like "but Robbie Hunter persuaded him to get back on the bike."
TL;DR? I'm scared of South Africans.

Is anyone able to take the yellow from Nibbles or is it a procession now till the end with Nibs deciding if and when he wants to relinquish it??

The curse of Gruber's fantasy team strikes another rider.
I think I've only got Brice Feillu and Vanotti left.
Ah well, Talansky earned himself some good gnarl points yesterday for finishing, even if he's skipping school today.

Isn't it stupid shit by Garmin to let him finish yesterday and abandon today rather than let him climb off yesterday? No-one enjoyed watching him ride in, brave as it was, and surely may have aggravated his chronic back injury and his chest infection. At the same time the team was attacking in order to ensure Slagter finished 15 minutes down on winner of the stage. Soppy cunts.

It's better than abandoning 25km from the end yesterday and then waking up in this morning feeling a lot better having already DNF'd.

He rode 90k on his own in agony. The announcer foir the podiums had to exhort the crowd not to leave after the ceremonies had finished as he hadn't arrived yet. He was persuaded to climb back on with the toughest part of the day remaining. I assumed it was because there was a chance he might recover and do something over the remaining of the Tour, but given how bad his injuries are it just looks masochistic. or sadistic, and plain daft really.
Yes a heroic sufferfest, but also a bit of a waste.
