  • May I draw your attention to my post

in the Time Trial thread under Rides and Races.

A quick search suggests you have not so far discussed club records, but this has certainly been a subject of longstanding interest in my own club and, I believe, in many others.

Time trialling generally is the area most relevant to setting records, but there may be scope elsewhere - for example: greatest number of track or road placings in a season. But the obvious records to have are the standard TT distances - 10 miles, 25 miles and so on. Place to place is also a possibility - my club has Hounslow - Worthing and Back and Hounslow- Newbury and Back records, but you can chose whatever you want. Bow to Bayswater would sound suitable for lfgss, although I'm **not **actually recommending this one (health & safety!) Naturally all records can have almost endless categories- men, women vets, juniors plus different types of machine.

As years go by and a long list of current and past records accumulates, I think you will find that your club will feel a more solid institution than it would without this history, and the recordmen and women will be able to feel that they have left their mark.

I put this idea forward merely as a suggestion - I hope I've given you enough here to start a discussion.
