  • Route does change a bit, as does the distance, each year.

    And this ^

  • I know a short-cut.

  • If you think I'm following you in the middle of the night mon you've got another thing coming.

  • Don't we all ;)

    Don't we all ;)

Some of us actually have another think coming. :)

  • Abe's Oddysee on bike.

  • I just did a little BuzzFeed community post on the DD - http://buzzfeed.com/howett/22-reasons-why-you-should-ride-the-dunwich-dynamo-ftbf

Hoping to make this year my third.

  • You tell it howett is.

  • Thought I'd stand up and add my name. First forum ride and my first DD. Looking forward to it.

Enjoy! Though if you think this is a forum ride, you're in for a shock at the start.

List above x 17 = approx number of riders :)

Have you figured out your return options?

  • I'll be joining the stragglers for a demi-Dynamo: dishing-out EPO and saucy chat at Sible Hedingham before heading home to the "Big I".

Shout "DAS" for a 10% discount.*

    *Not really.

I think I meant first ride after joining the forum... Maybe? :)
I'm all sorted getting back thanks. Just gotta get there now!

  • Can't do this year, due to work, but it's an excellent ride!
You'll all be pleased to know that they've sorted that monster pothole out, outside the fox inn in finchingfield!

If you expect that your calculation is even remotely accurate, you're in for a shock at the start. :)

17x75=1275. We're expecting at least 2,500 riders to start. There's obviously no guarantee that it'll keep growing, but it has been growing every year for about ten years, so it's possible.

  • Is there a downloadable route (gpx or whatever)
    Asking for a friend...

  • I posted one a page or two back. Not an official route, but I think it's pretty close.

  • If any doubt just follow the crowd. If you do end up lost at least you're lost with a bunch of other people.

Do want to be a bit careful who you follow, we could all end up round the house of some poor sod who was only cycling home from the pub.

  • Blimey Hairnetnic - maybe we can catch up this time - missed you at the last Bridges ride...you still need to hear my metal pelvis escapade!!

  • I'm sure this has been posted before, but don't have time to search at moment - does a .gpx exist for:

Dunwich>Ipswich station (via a pleasant route)

    and Dunwich back to London?

(currently not sure which option I'll be capable of, but would like to have files for both).

  • ^ I'd also be interested in this.
I'll just be trying to blag it but I suppose a .gpx would be more useful when my brain isn't functioning correctly.

  • Maybe something like this, which is pretty close to the ridewithgps auto-route, or you could go on the A12.

(I haven't ridden these roads or even done a street view recce, but it might work)

  • That's what I would do except just before mile 23 take bealings road and Playford road. The a1214 isn't bad but there are loads of lights and Playford is a bit quieter.

If you're comfy riding through London then nothing around Ipswich should worry you. The a12 is 70mph though so quick and flat but not very friendly.

Yes Mel! I'll see you at London Fields around 7ish.

    Updated, thanks.

  • Do carry a backup map or smartphone or something just in case. Had a worrying time last year when two (first timer) friends got separated and followed someone who it turned out was not heading in the same direction at all. Got stranded in an empty village at 5am with no idea which direction to head and phone battery on vapours - quite stressful.

A bat kept me company while I waited.

Taking an old Galaxy S2 as I have a spare battery to prevent this happening!
