that just wont work very well at all - you need vertical compression from either the threaded headset or the top cap, spacers and stem combo. A quill stem provides no vertical compression so your steerer will be looser than (insert dysphemism) which will result in mashing headset/steerer/head tube etc.....

basically you're gonna have a bad time
